\n\tNearly two years after Melissa Barrera<\/a> was fired from the franchise<\/a>, the first Scream 7<\/a> trailer has reignited backlash.<\/p>\n

\n\tFans of the slasher saga, which launched in 1996 from director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson, quickly began slamming the trailer<\/a> on social media, following Spyglass Media<\/a>\u2018s dismissal of Barrera over her comments on the Israel-Hamas conflict<\/a> and the \u201catrocities being committed against Palestinians,\u201d and Jenna Ortega<\/a>\u2018s subsequent exit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is missing two very important women\u2026\u201d wrote one fan on X<\/a> with the trailer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhere the scream<\/a> franchise ended for me,\u201d another posted<\/a> with a still from the final shot of Scream VI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe will not be supporting because of what Spyglass did to Melissa Barrera!\u201d one person made very clear in a post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBoycott Scream 7 and support Scary Movie 6 instead,\u201d wrote<\/a> someone after the sixth installment in Marlon Wayans\u2019 horror parody trilogy set to film next year<\/a>, after the original spoofed Scream (1996).<\/p>\n

\n\tOthers have called for support of Barrera\u2019s other films. \u201cAnyways YOUR MONSTER (2024) starring Melissa Barrera is streaming on HBO Max and Hulu,\u201d one person posted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnother noted<\/a>, \u201cReminder to everyone: The Copenhagen Test starring Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera is set to premiere on December 27th.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Scream 7 boycott comes after Spyglass fired Barrera<\/a> in November 2023, explaining the company has \u201czero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing her ousting, Ortega exited the franchise<\/a>, later noting that the sequel \u201cwas all kind of falling apart\u201d without Barrera to play its new \u2018final girl\u2019 Sam Carpenter.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet to hit theaters on Feb. 27, 2026, Scream 7 features returning stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Scott Foley, Matthew Lillard, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, as well as newcomers Joel McHale, Isabel May, Celeste O\u2019Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos and Ethan Embry.<\/p>\n
