You can feel the buzz in Dallas for this one. Rhett Lashlee<\/a>\u2018s SMU Mustangs<\/a> welcome the Miami Hurricanes<\/a> to town, setting up to be a fantastic ACC showdown. Both teams are still alive for a spot in the conference championship game, desperately needing to win this one. SMU comes in fresh off a loss, while Miami got back on the right track in Week 9.<\/p>\n

ESPN\u2019s Greg McElroy believes the Hurricanes will continue the good roll and get a win on the road. Not only is he picking Miami to win but also to cover the spread. As of Thursday afternoon, BetMGM<\/a> has the line sitting at -12.5 in favor of Miami.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to take Miami in this game,\u201d McElroy said<\/a>. \u201cNow, the line is a tough one. I don\u2019t like road chalk. Road chalk makes me uncomfortable. But I think Carson Beck<\/a> will play a smart game here. I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll be throwing into traffic. Don\u2019t be surprised if this game is a little close early but at some point, I think Miami will enforce their will and take over the game and eventually pull away in the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beck did not put up the flashiest performance in the Stanford win, only putting up 189 yards and a touchdown through the air. However, he was incredibly efficient when it came to completing passes to Miami wide receivers. Of his 28 throws, 21 of them were completed.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the Stanford game, McElroy\u2019s prediction reflects what took place just around a week ago. The two sides went into the halftime locker room tied at seven. Miami actually scored with under two minutes remaining in the second quarter to knot things up.<\/p>\n

From there, the game blew right open. Five second-half touchdowns, three of which came from running back Mark Fletcher<\/a>, turned into a blowout victory for Miami.<\/p>\n

If everything plays out as McElroy sees, Mario Cristobal<\/a> would get a nice start to a tough finishing stretch of the schedule. Miami would remain with just one loss in ACC play, needing some help to get to Charlotte. Both Georgia Tech<\/a> and Virginia<\/a> are currently undefeated against conference foes thus far.<\/p>\n

SMU would drop to 5-4 overall and earn a second ACC loss. A couple of nonconference defeats to in-state opponents meant the Mustangs likely need the automatic bid in order to make a repeat appearance in the College Football Playoff<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"You can feel the buzz in Dallas for this one.
