The WNBA star filed to have her name trademarked on March 7, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office approved her legal application on Tuesday, October 28.<\/p>\n<p>Angel Reese LLC, a limited liability company owned by Reese that handles her business and branding ventures, filed the trademark, and her newly registered mark reads \u201cANGEL REES E\u00ae.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Months ago, the 23-year-old star filed a request to <a href=\"https:\/\/face2faceafrica.com\/article\/after-a-series-of-trademark-disputes-these-two-men-opened-michigans-first-black-owned-brewery\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">trademark<\/a> \u201cMebounds,\u201d a term that was initially created to troll her for catching the rebounds of her own unsuccessful shots.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoever came up with the \u2018mebounds\u2019 thing, y\u2019all ate because \u2018mebounds\u2019, rebounds, crebounds\u2026 anything that comes off that board, it\u2019s mine,\u201d the WNBA star said in a video on her TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd a brand? That\u2019s six figures right there. The trolling, I love when y\u2019all do it because, like, the ideas be good. Like, when y\u2019all have to alter my face and s\u2013t because I\u2019m cute, alright, whatever. That doesn\u2019t get me. But when y\u2019all came up with \u2018mebounds\u2019\u2014because statistically, all the rebounds that I get aren\u2019t always just mine. They\u2019re, like, the defenses, too, or somebody else on my team\u2014but, when y\u2019all came up with \u2018mebounds,\u2019 y\u2019all ate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That application is currently pending. Reese seeks to make some cash out of these trademark registrations. By trademarking her own name, the Chicago Sky player gets exclusive rights to market apparel, endorsements and licensed products under that name, WBLS reported, adding that the move also gives her control over her narrative and brand identity.<\/p>\n<p>She can also \u201cexpand product lines, licensing collaborations, and potentially global brand initiatives tied to \u2018Angel Reese\u2019,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>If her \u201cMeBounds\u201d application is also approved, the signature phrase may be used on apparel.<\/p>\n<p>Reese, who recently completed her second WNBA season, has been busy off the court, with endorsement deals and a signature shoe line with Reebok, among other moves in media and fashion.<\/p>\n<p>On October 15, she became the first athlete to walk the runway at a Victoria\u2019s Secret Fashion Show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Chicago Sky\u2019s Angel Reese has trademarked her name as part of efforts to build her brand.
