{"id":261942,"date":"2025-10-31T02:12:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T02:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/261942\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T02:12:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T02:12:12","slug":"intel-in-talks-to-acquire-ai-chip-startup-sambanova-bloomberg-news-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/261942\/","title":{"rendered":"Intel in talks to acquire AI chip startup SambaNova, Bloomberg News reports"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">(Reuters) -Intel is in talks to acquire <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> processor maker SambaNova, which has been working with bankers to gauge interest from potential suitors, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Any deal would likely value SambaNova at below the $5 billion it fetched in a 2021 funding round, and deliberations are in the early stages and there&#8217;s no certainty the companies will reach an agreement, Bloomberg reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">A potential deal could boost Intel&#8217;s AI aspirations, after efforts to gain traction in the AI GPU market with chips positioned as a cheaper alternative to <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Nvidia;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nvidia<\/a>&#8216;s leading processors did not produce results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan&#8217;s investment firm, Walden International, was among SambaNova&#8217;s early investors, and the chipmaker&#8217;s investment arm, Intel Capital, is also an investor.
