{"id":26286,"date":"2025-07-21T14:24:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T14:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/26286\/"},"modified":"2025-07-21T14:24:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T14:24:10","slug":"hurricane-center-tracks-atlantic-tropical-wave-with-chance-to-develop-orlando-sentinel-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/26286\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane center tracks Atlantic tropical wave with chance to develop \u2013 Orlando Sentinel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Hurricane Center continued Monday to assess a tropical wave moving across the Atlantic with a chance to develop into the season\u2019s next tropical depression or storm.<\/p>\n<p>In its 8 a.m. tropical outlook, the NHC said the wave was located about 700 miles east-southeast of the Caribbean\u2019s Lesser Antilles in the central tropical Atlantic with an increased production of showers and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnvironmental conditions are marginally conducive, and any development should be slow to occur while the system moves generally west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph,\u201d forecasters said. \u201cIn a couple of days, conditions are forecast to become unfavorable for further development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NHC gave it a 20% chance to develop in the next two days and 20% chance in the next seven. It began tracking the wave Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>If it were to become a named system it could become Tropical Storm Dexter.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">8pm EDT 20 July: NHC is watching a small area of low pressure (Invest <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/94L?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#94L<\/a>) in the Central Tropical Atlantic. This system has a low chance (20% \ud83d\udfe1) of becoming a tropical cyclone before moving into less favorable environmental conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Latest outlook: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CRP4ogQxRF\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/CRP4ogQxRF<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/b5DH9mAzI6\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/b5DH9mAzI6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 National Hurricane Center (@NHC_Atlantic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHC_Atlantic\/status\/1947078432388497447?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">July 20, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before the start of hurricane season, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2025\/05\/22\/noaa-predicts-above-average-number-of-storms-in-hurricane-season-starting-june-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had forecast an expected<\/a> 13 to 19 named storms for the year, of which 6 to 10 would grow into hurricanes.
