Love stories are best sellers at Red Stick Reads. Just months after\u00a0the original location hosted its first wedding<\/a>, a bride-to-be said \u201cyes\u201d during the grand opening of the store\u2019s new chapter on Government Street<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While visiting local shops during Hot Art Cool Nights, Sarah Brown and Jake Roblez walked into the grand opening celebration of the new\u00a0Red Stick Reads<\/a>\u00a0location as one of their last stops of the night. Little did Sarah know the celebration would soon take on a new meaning, as Jake got down on one knee and proposed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were in the horror section,\u201d Sarah laughs. \u201cBut it was just the perfect little corner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple had joined friends for the evening, who insisted they attend the annual arts and culture festival in Mid City despite the rainy weather. Jake had looped them in on his plans and asked them to have their phones ready to document the special moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had zero clue,\u201d Sarah says. \u201dAnd I was in shock that our friends didn\u2019t give it away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jake and Sarah met through a dating app, having both stayed in Baton Rouge after attending LSU.\u00a0\u201cWe both came here for LSU, but we didn\u2019t meet at LSU,\u201d she explains. \u201cWe both just never left because we like the city too much.\u201d<\/p>\n

For date nights, the two enjoy taking walks to Red Stick Reads on Government, where they reminisce about that rainy night in May. \u201cIt\u2019s lovely because it\u2019s super close to our house now, so we just get our steps in,\u201d she says with a laugh.<\/p>\n
