The one thing he didn&#8217;t anticipate was <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"fb7cf413-5156-9fc2-abe0-2273b89f70db\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/lad\/los-angeles-dodgers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> left fielder <a data-player-guid=\"28741fed-34f4-45a6-7159-75e96f7f0155\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31358\/enrique-hernandez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Enrique Hernandez<\/a> catching a line drive off the bat of <a data-player-guid=\"dad72165-d55b-ad32-35dc-4e9fd12f88a1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/37729\/andres-gimenez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andres Gimenez<\/a> and doubling him off second base to end Game 6 of the World Series in favor the Dodgers on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Barger knew he had made a critical mistake.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was pretty surprised he got to it,&#8221; Barger said after the Dodgers&#8217; dramatic 3-1 win to force Game 7. &#8220;Off the bat, I thought it was going to go [right] over the shortstop&#8217;s head. I didn&#8217;t think it was going to travel that far.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was kind of a bad read.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/p>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<p>Blue Jays infielder <a data-player-guid=\"11f93a23-949f-dc28-5cf6-c52404e7a4df\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33572\/isiah-kiner-falefa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isiah Kiner-Falefa<\/a> was watching it all unfold from the bench.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought it was getting down 1000 percent,&#8221; he said shaking his head.<\/p>\n<p>Moments earlier, Barger had doubled off the left-center-field wall and kept running around the bases as the ball got lodged at the base of the wall. Hernandez and Dodgers centerfielder <a data-player-guid=\"2d24bb26-f94f-9029-fdfc-8324f4e0a5bf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/41531\/justin-dean\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Justin Dean<\/a> put up their hands to signal the ball was stuck, leading to left field umpire John Tumpane ruling it a ground rule double.<\/p>\n<p>Barger was sent back to second while pinch runner <a data-player-guid=\"c5f4a1e3-b460-625f-55d5-d2bb2451c7ca\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39105\/myles-straw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Myles Straw<\/a>, who had entered the game after catcher <a data-player-guid=\"d2b9338a-54bd-8be2-de03-84d64964e8fb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42081\/alejandro-kirk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alejandro Kirk<\/a> was hit by a pitch, was placed on third.<\/p>\n<p>Gimenez&#8217;s at-bat came with the top of the Blue Jays&#8217; order due up next &#8212; they never got a chance to bat. Dodgers second baseman <a data-player-guid=\"ea277467-2165-b0fc-eff6-23b6173e7f17\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/30791\/miguel-rojas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miguel Rojas<\/a> made a nice pick of the throw from Hernandez as he stepped on second base, stunning the home crowd.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Jays third baseman Addison Barger, who was doubled off at second base to end Game 6, said he thought the line drive off Andres Gimenez&#8217;s bat was going to go over the shortstop&#8217;s head.\u00a0Photo by Gregory Shamus\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a tough read,&#8221; Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. &#8220;[Hernandez] playing shallow and one out, you&#8217;re thinking score. He made a really good play. It&#8217;s such a tweener. He made a good play, good throw. Good play by Rojas, too. Wild.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wild way to finish it, for sure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That finish means the Blue Jays will play another Game 7 on Saturday, about 10 days after defeating the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"56d60582-088f-6848-5180-1fb04440cf87\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/sea\/seattle-mariners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle Mariners<\/a> in one to win the ALCS. This time there&#8217;s a championship on the line.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think anything can get this group rattled,&#8221; Kiner-Falefa said. &#8220;Every time there is a loss like this, you ask yourself, &#8216;how are we going to come back?&#8217; To have the opportunity to play a Game 7, in Toronto at home, it&#8217;s a dream come true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That was the sentiment throughout the locker room after a second tough loss in the series. The Blue Jays were also on the losing end of the marathon 18-inning affair in Game 3. They bounced back after that defeat, winning Games 4 and 5. Infielder <a data-player-guid=\"bd16899c-bd8d-ad25-94e9-c1d9731ccd0d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/38904\/bo-bichette\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bo Bichette<\/a> was asked what his emotions would be like on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I anticipate us doing everything we can to win,&#8221; Bichette said. &#8220;I&#8217;m sure there will be a lot of adrenaline. We&#8217;re going to show up to win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Infielder <a data-player-guid=\"e37f397f-c401-33cf-ad4a-09a166b04d38\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4997181\/davis-schneider\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Davis Schneider<\/a> said he has dreamed of being the hero in Game 7 of the World Series since he was a kid. He could get his chance on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I still do it to this day,&#8221; Schneider said with a smile. &#8220;In the cage. Game 7, game on the line. Hopefully it doesn&#8217;t come to that. Hopefully we&#8217;re up 15-0.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>An early lead for 41-year-old <a data-player-guid=\"a9fe8a8f-25e3-3d90-b410-96f40b03a927\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/28976\/max-scherzer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Scherzer<\/a>, who will start Game 7 for the Jays, would undoubtedly bring the home crowd to its feet after they had a quieter night for most of Game 6. Scherzer could give way to 22-year-old rookie pitcher <a data-player-guid=\"17a44b2c-b2ef-33e5-bfbb-066cd0ef9722\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4949041\/trey-yesavage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trey Yesavage<\/a>, who said he would be ready for &#8220;anything&#8221; after pitching a gem in Game 5.<\/p>\n<p>The same could be said for the entire Blue Jays roster. They aren&#8217;t surprised they&#8217;re in this position &#8212; they&#8217;re simply grateful.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you told us in spring training we were going to have a Game 7, everyone here would have signed up for it,&#8221; Kiner-Falefa said. &#8220;From last place last year to Game 7 of the World series.
