Many samples of herbal inhaler products have proved to be unsafe, and weak and elderly people are at risk, according to health authorities.<\/p>\n

The Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday that it collected samples<\/a> of many brands of herbal<\/a> inhalers<\/a> for testing after online reports in May of fungal<\/a> contamination<\/a> found in herbal<\/a> inhalers<\/a> which could harm users’ lungs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tests on samples<\/a> showed contamination<\/a> in herbal<\/a> inhaler<\/a> \u201cHong Thai Formula 2\u201d and Chama Herbs herbal<\/a> inhaler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FDA thus informed the public that the herbal<\/a> inhalers<\/a> of both brands are substandard<\/a> herbal<\/a> products and will gradually make more announcements if products of other brands are proved with unsafe levels of microbial<\/a> contamination<\/a>,\u201d the FDA secretary-general said.<\/p>\n

Unsafe levels of contamination<\/a> with microbes, fungus, yeast and bacteria<\/a> could be especially harmful to the health of people with immunodeficiency and for elderly people.<\/p>\n

The Department of Medical Sciences said that in 2025 the department received 54 samples<\/a> of inhalers<\/a> for examination and 39 of them proved to be substandard<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Numerous inhalers are on sale at a shop in Bang Khen district, Bangkok.
