President Donald Trump shared more than two dozen photos on Truth Social Friday afternoon showing the White House\u2019s Lincoln Bathroom redone completely in marble, the latest chapter in his White House remodels, which sparked controversy as he ordered the East Wing to be knocked down for a $300 million ballroom.<\/p>\n

The bathroom attached to the White House\u2019s Lincoln Bedroom now features marble floors and walls, which Trump said on Truth Social<\/a> is \u201cvery appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump previously told NBC News<\/a> he planned on redoing the bathroom as part of his White House renovations, stating at the time the Lincoln Bathroom was \u201cterribly\u201d modeled.<\/p>\n Trump said on Truth Social<\/a> the bathroom previously featured green tiles in an art deco style, which he said was \u201ctotally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era.\u201d<\/p>\n The photos show a marble sink, shower and bathtub, with much of the room featuring gold accents, including faucets and flower pots, with a robe bearing the presidential seal hanging on the wall.<\/p>\n Trump also said in a Friday afternoon post<\/a> the Kennedy Center, which he took over as chairman earlier this year, is also being remodeled with marble and new carpeting, claiming the arts center was \u201cdead as a doornail, but it will soon be beautiful again!\u201d<\/p>\n What Else Do We Know About Trump\u2019s White House Renovations?<\/p>\n The White House\u2019s East Wing was torn down last week in preparation for the construction of a ballroom Trump has said will cost $300 million. Trump said in a Truth Social<\/a> post last week construction had begun on the project, claiming the project is privately funded and will proceed at \u201czero cost to the American Taxpayer.\u201d The project has stirred some backlash, as House Democrats<\/a> have demanded the White House explain how it is funding the project and whether donors were promised any benefits in return. \u201cThe opaque nature of this scheme reinforces concern that President Trump is again selling presidential access to individuals or entities, including foreign nationals and corporate actors, with vested interests in federal action,\u201d Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wrote in a letter<\/a> to Trump\u2019s chief of staff Susie Wiles, criticizing the administration for carrying out the project \u201cin secret without congressional or other oversight or appropriate public scrutiny.\u201d A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll<\/a> released Thursday found 56% of the more than 2,700 adults surveyed opposed the demolition of the East Wing, with just 28% voicing support and another 16% unsure. Nearly all Democrats, 88%, said they opposed the project, while 61% of Republicans said they support it.<\/p>\n Tangent<\/p>\n Trump\u2019s renovation plans have proceeded throughout the government shutdown, which has lingered for a month, and as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program food stamps benefits are slated to run out this weekend.
