TV Insider,<\/a> Rogers shared that she began to sense something was wrong with her body, prompting her to visit a doctor. After a series of tests confirmed she had stage 2 colorectal cancer, she started radiation and chemotherapy treatments in June. The soap opera actress, known for her role as Maggie Horton, started chemo just three days after \u201cDays of Our Lives\u201d began its summer hiatus. <\/p>\n“It was radiation every day and chemo every day for six weeks, and it was tough,\u201d she said. “It was tough knowing you had to do it five days a week, and then you had off Saturday and Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekends because I didn\u2019t have to go to and see a doctor. I was so tired of seeing doctors.”<\/p>\n

Though the treatments were “tough,” Rogers said she was fortunate not to lose her hair. During this difficult time, she kept her illness private, relying on support from Linsey Godfrey, who plays her daughter on \u201cDays of Our Lives.\u201d Godfrey, a cancer survivor herself, having beaten Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma nearly 20 years ago, offered guidance and encouragement.<\/p>\n
