Born in London, Tom Fletcher, 40, attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and founded McFly in 2003. The band had seven No\u00a01 singles, won a Brit Award for best pop act and continue to perform. In\u00a02016, Fletcher published his first solo-written book for children, The\u00a0Christmasaurus, which was shortlisted for a British Book\u00a0Award. His titles have been translated into 40\u00a0languages. Paddington: The Musical, with music and lyrics by Fletcher, is at the Savoy theatre until next May. He is married to\u00a0podcaster and author Giovanna Fletcher<\/a>, has three children and lives in\u00a0Hertfordshire.<\/p>\n

When were you happiest?
On stage with my band.<\/p>\n

What is your greatest fear?
I\u2019m afraid of the dark.<\/p>\n

What is the trait you most deplore\u00a0in\u00a0yourself?
I\u2019m quite stubborn.<\/p>\n

What is the trait you most deplore\u00a0in\u00a0others?
People who aren\u2019t polite.<\/p>\n

What was your most embarrassing\u00a0moment?
I was in Oliver! when I was 10 and I\u00a0peed myself on stage in front of however many people the Palladium holds. It was the stuff of nightmares.<\/p>\n

Aside from a property, what\u2019s the most expensive thing you\u2019ve bought?
A pair of Back to the Future shoes. They were auctioned off for Michael J\u00a0Fox\u2019s Parkinson\u2019s charity, so I bid and\u00a0I won. I am a huge fan of the films and if there was ever a pair of shoes I\u00a0should own, it was those.<\/p>\n

Complicated, chaotic, messy.<\/p>\n

What makes you unhappy?
Seeing my kids unhappy.<\/p>\n

What do you most dislike about your\u00a0appearance?
I am comfortable with my flaws: I\u2019ve\u00a0got a big chin but I\u2019ve learned to live with it.<\/p>\n

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?
Ricicles, the sugary cereal.<\/p>\n

Who would play you in the\u00a0film\u00a0of\u00a0your\u00a0life?
Tom Felton. We get confused for each other all the time.<\/p>\n

What is your most unappealing habit?
I\u2019ve got a fixed retainer and I suck it and it really annoys everyone.<\/p>\n

What scares you about getting older?
Seeing my kids getting older scares me.<\/p>\n

Who is your celebrity crush?
That would have to be my wife.<\/p>\n

What is the worst thing anyone\u2019s\u00a0said\u00a0to you?
\u201cYou\u2019re not in Busted any more.\u201d I\u00a0successfully auditioned to be in Busted and then a couple of days later I\u00a0got a phone call to say that I was no\u00a0longer needed as they were going to\u00a0keep it as the three of them. But it ended up being OK.<\/p>\n

What was the last lie that you told?
I lied about the time of this interview, because I wanted to come and chill in\u00a0my room on my own.<\/p>\n

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Listening to Christmas music when it\u2019s\u00a0not Christmas.<\/p>\n

What does love feel like?
Very complicated.<\/p>\n

Which living person do you most despise, and why?
Myself at times. I think you go through\u00a0phases of thinking you\u2019re a\u00a0complete idiot.<\/p>\n

If not yourself, who would you\u00a0most\u00a0like to be?
Santa.<\/p>\n

Would you rather have more sex, money or fame?
I guess I have to go with sex.<\/p>\n

What is the most important lesson life\u00a0has taught you?
