At least 23 people have been killed in a supermarket explosion in Mexico, according to local officials.<\/p>\n
Another 11 people were wounded in the blast at a Waldo\u2019s store in the centre of Hermosillo in the state of Sonora on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly, a number of the victims we\u2019ve found were minors,\u201d the state\u2019s governor Alfonso Durazo said in a video message.<\/p>\n
He added that the survivors were being treated at hospitals in Hermosillo.<\/p>\n
Local public security authorities said they had ruled out an \u201cattack\u201d or \u201cevent related to a violent act\u201d against civilians. The explosion came as Mexico celebrated the Day of the Dead over the weekend, when families honour deceased loved ones.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have ordered an extensive and transparent investigation to determine the causes of the incident and figure out those responsible,\u201d Durazo said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNobody will face this pain alone. From the very first moments, emergency, security and health services responded with great professionalism and commitment, controlling the situation and saving lives,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her condolences on X \u201cto the families and loved ones of those who died\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been in contact with the Sonora governor, Alfonso Durazo, to provide support where needed. I\u2019ve instructed Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodriguez to send a support team in order to assist the families and the injured,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Images in local media showed the front of the supermarket charred by the fire, with the windows blown out.<\/p>\n
