Mohamed Salah reflected on a ‘very important’ win over Aston Villa and his pride in reaching 250 goals for Liverpool.<\/p>\n
The No.11 opened the scoring in Saturday night’s Premier League clash at Anfield, capitalising on an opposition error.<\/p>\n
The finish set the Reds on their way to a 2-0 victory – with his effort followed by another from Ryan Gravenberch – and brought up that huge personal milestone for Salah.<\/p>\n
“It’s very important,” the Egyptian said of the result, speaking to TNT Sports post-match.<\/p>\n
“We had a few losses in the Premier League and Champions League but I’m glad we start to come back on track now.<\/p>\n
“It’s a good plus before very important games against [Real] Madrid and City. It’s a very important win for us.”<\/p>\n
Salah added of bagging his 250th strike at Liverpool: “It’s a great feeling to score goals and win trophies for such a big club. It’s something I don’t take for granted.<\/p>\n
“I’m so proud and so happy about that achievement.”<\/p>\n
The defeat of Unai Emery’s Villa came as a response to a run that had seen Arne Slot’s men lose six of their seven previous fixtures.<\/p>\n
Salah is confident the reigning champions will find their best stride as they continue to adapt as a new-look squad.<\/p>\n
“I said from the beginning – I know football, I’ve played for many years – I said it’s a very tricky season for us,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We had a few new players, very good signings but they need time to adapt to the old team. And we lost a few good players as well.<\/p>\n
“We just need time to adapt and know each other’s games, and I think we’ll be fine.”<\/p>\n
