Apple\u2019s next major update to iOS 26, version 26.2, could debut in beta as soon as Tuesday, per Bloomberg\u2019s Mark Gurman<\/a>. This would be immediately after the launch of iOS 26.1<\/a> to the public, which he reports should happen on Monday.<\/p>\n

iOS 26.1 should launch<\/a> to users on Monday, barring any \u201clast-minute delays\u201d, according to Gurman<\/a>. With iOS 26.1, the company introduced a new \u2018Tinted\u2019 toggle for Liquid Glass, improving readability at the cost of aesthetic. Otherwise, it remained a relatively minor update.<\/p>\n

Moving forward, though, iOS 26.2 should debut its first developer beta \u201cas soon as Tuesday.\u201d This should accompany 26.2 betas for Apple\u2019s other platforms, as well.<\/p>\n

Per the report, there might not be \u201cmajor new features\u201d in the first beta, though that could change over time. With the iOS 26.1 cycle, the Liquid Glass toggle didn\u2019t come until beta 4<\/a> \u2013 the final beta before RC.<\/p>\n

iOS 26.2 features<\/p>\n

There aren\u2019t many expectations for iOS 26.2. Apple insists that US passport support in Apple Wallet will debut before the end of the year<\/a>, though that might not necessarily be tied to a new iOS version.<\/p>\n

The company also promised end-to-end encryption with RCS<\/a> in \u201cfuture software updates.\u201d This doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that it has to launch before the end of the year, but iOS 26.2 would mark another opportunity for the feature to debut.<\/p>\n

Outside of those two things, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s much to look forward to, though there\u2019s always room for surprises. iOS 26.2 should launch to the public in December, based on previous years.<\/p>\n
