David Draiman has announced that his band Disturbed<\/a> are going on an indefinite hiatus \u2013 see what he had to say below.<\/p>\n

Last week, the metal frontman took to social media to announce that the band are going on a break after concluding their 25th anniversary \u2018The Sickness\u2019 tour. Draiman wrote: \u201cNot sure when we will be headed back out. We all need a nice long break. Hope to see you when we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

While unconfirmed, Draiman\u2019s post suggest that the hiatus will only affect the band\u2019s touring.<\/p>\n

The hiatus comes after Draiman\u2019s support for Israel reportedly caused the band\u2019s concert in Belgium in mid-October to be cancelled<\/a>. Charles Spapens, mayor of Forest \u2013 a municipality of Brussels \u2013 gave a statement to\u00a0The Brussels Times<\/a> at the time, taking ownership of the decision and shedding light on police advice he\u2019d received ahead of the concert.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy responsibility and priority are the safety of residents, neighbours, demonstrators, spectators and staff at Forest National,\u201d he said. \u201cGiven the police\u2019s negative advice and the venue\u2019s unique location, it was my duty to make this decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

He had previously described it as a \u201cmoral problem\u201d,\u00a0saying<\/a>\u00a0last month: \u201cThis is about a man who signed a bomb that was dropped on Gaza. We do not support the presence of this artist, and even less so his position on Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the gig\u2019s cancellation, Disturbed issued the following statement on social media: \u201cMusic is where all our differences fade into the background. Music has the power to heal, to inspire and to bring people together, it\u2019s not about what divides us. We have always made it a point that at our shows ALL are welcome no matter what you believe. Everyone who comes to a Disturbed concert is accepted and loved. We are saddened that our fans in Belgium are not going to be able to share in this celebration of music.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Draiman\u2019s support of Israel has drawn him criticism, although he appears indifferent to backlash. In 2022, he doubled-down on his support and said that he \u201cdoesn\u2019t give a shit\u201d if he alienated people with his pro-Israel stance<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the past, he sang the Israeli national anthem at one of Disturbed\u2019s Tel Aviv concerts<\/a>, and called Roger Waters a \u201cmonster\u201d and \u201canti-Semitic to his rotten core<\/a>\u201c. Back in 2019, Draiman\u00a0hit out at Waters, slamming the musician and his \u201cNazi comrades\u201d for calling others to boycott Israel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap<\/a> have also been slammed by David Draiman, who earlier this year said that Tom Morello was \u201cshameful\u201d for backing them<\/a>. The Rage Against The Machine<\/a>\u00a0guitarist\u00a0had described them as \u201cclearly the Rage Against The Machine of now\u201d<\/a>, and praised them for \u201cspeaking truth to power\u201d in their outspoken support for the people of Palestine and criticism of the Israeli government.<\/p>\n

Things escalated again when Kneecap made an X\/Twitter post about Draiman<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 sharing an image from 2024 that showed the singer signing artillery shells belonging to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) with messages including \u201cFuck Hamas\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the caption, the trio wrote: \u201cWe don\u2019t care what religion anyone is\u2026 or if they\u2019ve one at all. We love all sound c**ts. Smiling and signing bombs to murder kids and other people\u2019s families just makes you a straight up c**t. Simple as. Free Palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Draiman swiftly responded to Kneecap<\/a>, telling them to enjoy their \u201cfive minutes\u201d in the spotlight:\u00a0\u201cEnjoy your five minutes gentlemen. It could have been done with your art, but instead you chose to do it with hatred. Bye now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Most recently, Draiman said in late October on Twitter: \u201cI wrote \u2018FUCK HAMAS\u2019 on one artillery shell, and I\u2019d do it again. Without question.\u201d<\/p>\n

Draiman\u2019s continual support of Israel amid a mounting civilian death toll and ever worsening starvation saw him roundly booed at Ozzy Osbourne\u2019s and Black Sabbath\u2019s final live outing<\/a>, prompting the following response on social media<\/a>: \u201cYes, there were a few boos when I walked out, but I came to pay homage to my teachers, my idols, the mighty Black Sabbath, and I wasn\u2019t about to let a few Jew hating morons deter that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cIt\u2019s all about feeding their narrative, generating clickbait, and inciting hatred of Jews. There\u2019s even a track being passed around out there that added enhanced booing to the performance just to add fuel to the fire. Pathetic\u2026 And I am STILL UNAPOLOGETICALLY A FIERCELY PRO ISRAEL JEW. I will ALWAYS stand up for my people, and I won\u2019t be deterred, intimidated, or shamed out of rocking the asses of the masses. Put that in your pipes and smoke it.\u201d<\/p>\n
