EUGENE \u2014 A former Oregon starting cornerback intends to transfer after the season.<\/p>\n
Jahlil Florence<\/a>, who started nine times in 11 games as a sophomore in 2023, intends to enter the transfer portal, he told On3.<\/p>\n \u201cGood luck the rest of season to my brothers,\u201d Florence tweeted<\/a> Sunday night.<\/p>\n The redshirt junior has not recorded a statistic while appearing in two games this season, did not travel to Penn State or Rutgers and did not participate in pregame warmups against Wisconsin.<\/p>\n Asked last month whether Florence would be redshirting this season, Oregon coach Dan Lanning initially thought he already played in at least four games, then said \u201cmaybe.\u201d<\/p>\n Florence participated in spring practice, which he ended with a minor hand injury, and made plays during fall camp<\/a> but was passed over on the depth chart by several other players, many of them younger.<\/p>\n He can apply for a medical hardship waiver for 2024 to retain two years of eligibility.<\/p>\n Florence had 27 tackles (two for loss) with one sack, one interception and one pass breakup in 2023 before suffering a torn right meniscus that kept him for all of 2024.
