The afternoon games feature matchups between the New England Patriots<\/a> and Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>, the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> and San Francisco 49ers<\/a> and the Detroit Lions<\/a> and Washington Commanders<\/a>. The Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> host the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> at night to wrap up Sunday’s action.<\/p>\n

Karabell: Many will view the Packers losing at home to the lowly Carolina Panthers<\/a> — a team that now has the same number of wins — as aberrant. They should. That loss shouldn’t happen, and the Packers will probably play better against the defending Super Bowl champs. That doesn’t change the fact that the Eagles have a much better offense, led by a consistent, mistake-free QB, explosive RB, dominant WRs and TD-scoring TE. The Packers have a reckless QB and lack WRs, and they just lost their starting tight end for the season. The Eagles will win this game outright.<\/p>\n

Maldonado: The Rams are playing clean, efficient football with a steady defense. San Francisco is leaning on a heavy dose of Christian McCaffrey<\/a>, which means shorter throws and fewer big shots. That means clock management, patience and drives that take time. The Rams will move it, but they do it with rhythm. This matchup is more controlled and under-friendly.

Moody: Both defenses rank near the bottom of the league in yards and points allowed, setting up a shootout between Jaxson Dart<\/a> and Caleb Williams<\/a>. The over has hit in four of the Giants’ past five and six of the Bears’ past nine. Chicago just scored 47 points against the Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>, while New York has allowed 30-plus in four straight. Expect another high-scoring, back-and-forth matchup.<\/p>\n

\"\" Patrick Mahomes<\/a> to win MVP (+425)<\/a><\/p>\n

Walder: Mahomes, Sam Darnold<\/a> (18-1) and Dak Prescott<\/a> (60-1) might somehow all be values at the moment because of a big overreaction the Buffalo Bills<\/a>‘ win over the Chiefs on Sunday that pushed Josh Allen<\/a> ahead as the MVP favorite at +175. Yes, the Bills are now the favorite to be the AFC No. 1 seed, but the odds make it seem as if the first eight weeks of the season — when Allen was certainly not playing at his best — didn’t happen. Allen ranks 11th(!) in QBR this season. And although our expectation for him going forward is certainly as a top-three quarterback, it would be an upset for him to surpass Mahomes in the efficiency metrics. The best bet here, in my view, would be a “no” bet on Allen to win MVP. But since that’s not an option, backing Mahomes at what I view as a temporary boost to his odds is the next-best choice.
