While one Android flagship<\/a> is seeing a launch so early, it\u2019s beating out the holiday season, Samsung appears content to take its time building up to the Galaxy S26 series.<\/p>\n

After several years of late January announcements ahead of early February availability, Samsung appears to be moving its Galaxy S26 launch event back several weeks more than usual. Korean outlet Money Today<\/a> published a report suggesting a February 25th Unpacked event to be held in San Francisco. While Samsung held both the Galaxy S24 and S25 events in the Bay Area, those announcements were based in neighboring San Jose, and if you\u2019ve been remotely following the tech world\u2019s obsession, you\u2019ll probably be able to guess the rumored reason for the move.<\/p>\n

AI, reportedly, is the reason for Samsung\u2019s jump back to San Francisco, with Money Today quoting a company official who declared the city a \u201ccenter of AI technology.\u201d While the company\u2019s Galaxy AI suite of applications has yet to take the world by storm \u2014 it still feels like an afterthought to Gemini, even on Samsung\u2019s own devices \u2014 I can\u2019t imagine anyone is expecting Samsung to pivot away from this strategy in the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

As far as what device might actually see a launch on stage in February, we\u2019re left with a surprising amount of mystery. It sounds like the Galaxy S26 trio might arrive in its usual state, with a smaller entry-level model paired with the S Pen-equipped Galaxy S26 Ultra and the S26+ sandwiched between. That\u2019s a big change from just a couple of months ago, when we expected both a Galaxy S26 \u201cPro\u201d<\/a> and an ultra-slim S26 Edge model<\/a> to make their debut alongside the Ultra.<\/p>\n

If Samsung does keep its slimmed-down Edge series rocking, don\u2019t expect it to arrive in February. It sounds like a slimmer redux could be on the way for 2026 after all, but like the S25 Edge before it, we\u2019d see a late arrival following the launch of the rest of Samsung\u2019s latest lineup. Whether that\u2019s a good idea is, honestly, another debate entirely<\/a>.<\/p>\n
