Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> fired back at the producers of The View<\/a> for asking her to read a legal disclaimer on the air regarding something she said about President Trump<\/a>. <\/p>\n

During Monday\u2019s broadcast, Goldberg and her co-hosts were discussing President Trump\u2019s recent 60 Minutes<\/a> interview in which he denied that he knew Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, despite having pardoned him.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Trump] had said that Joe Biden didn\u2019t know who he was pardoning using an autopen,\u201d Sunny Hostin<\/a> pointed out. \u201cHow come he doesn\u2019t know this guy is?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cBecause he\u2019s using an autopen!\u201d Goldberg claimed.<\/p>\n

But Goldberg later received a legal note from the producers regarding her statement just as she was preparing to send the segment to commercial. Hostin passed the note along to her just as she was finishing her point about the administration\u2019s ICE raids.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the hell? What?\u201d Goldberg asked as she read the note aloud, \u201cWe don\u2019t know if Trump used an auto pen to pardon\u2026’\u201d<\/p>\n

She then irritatedly added, \u201cIt was a joke!\u201d<\/p>\n

Hostin clarified what the legal disclaimer read for viewers. \u201cWe don\u2019t know if Trump used an autopen to pardon him but we do know that he didn\u2019t know who that crypto guy was,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Goldberg ripped up the note, sparking laughter from her co-hosts and the audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry,\u201d she said as she ripped it up. \u201cThe hardest thing about this job now is no one understands nuance.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued ranting as she maintained that her statement was clearly intended as a joke. \u201cYou know when you hear a joke, when somebody\u2019s fooling around, when they\u2019re not saying something specific, especially on this show,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m very specific when I\u2019m making jokes. You know when I\u2019m making jokes.\u201d<\/p>\n

None of her co-hosts appeared to disagree. <\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Goldberg has questioned why they have to read legal notes on the air. She once got into a back-and-forth<\/a> with executive producer\u00a0Brian Teta<\/a> after Hostin shared a legal note that clarified, \u201cDonald Trump has denied any wrongdoing related to the 2020 election.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what we have to do, these legal notes, each time to say what has been proven to be a fact, we have to deny it on their behalf, is that right?\u201d Goldberg asked Teta, later adding, \u201d\u00a0I find it odd when everybody has seen it, and they know that it\u2019s not necessarily the truth\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

Teta promptly cut her off to explain, \u201cWe\u2019re showing what they\u2019ve said on the record as their statement.\u201d <\/p>\n
