{"id":269784,"date":"2025-11-03T23:50:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T23:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/269784\/"},"modified":"2025-11-03T23:50:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T23:50:07","slug":"draymond-green-states-warriors-effect-led-to-bad-road-trip-nbc-bay-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/269784\/","title":{"rendered":"Draymond Green states \u2018Warriors effect\u2019 led to bad road trip \u2013 NBC Bay Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Warriors dropped their last two games to teams they should have beaten on paper.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers missing star players, role players like Ryan Rollins and Quenton Jackson\u00a0took the spotlight.\u00a0Draymond Green\u00a0explained why that happened\u00a0in the latest episode of\u00a0his podcast, \u201cThe Draymond Green\u00a0Show.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny time a star\u00a0[goes]\u00a0out against us, you\u2019re always going to have guys that step up and just play out of their minds,\u201d Green said. \u201cThat is the Warrior\u00a0effect,\u00a0that is the effect you get when you have had the success that we have.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Green explained that with the Warriors\u2019 prestige, younger and\u00a0relatively unknown\u00a0players take the matchup as an opportunity to play their best basketball.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou figure a lot of these young guys that come into the NBA\u00a0now,\u00a0they grew up on the success that we\u2019ve had,\u201d Green continued. \u201cSo\u00a0when they come into that game,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0their NBA Finals.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0their childhood dream come true. And so, you always get the absolute best version of guys &#8230;\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8230; No excuse to why we\u00a0lose\u00a0those games, but then I think for us where we\u00a0have to\u00a0grow is, you\u00a0have to\u00a0put the fire out before it gets started.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsportsbayarea.com\/nba\/golden-state-warriors\/steph-curry-loss-pacers\/1888695\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Warriors held an 11-point lead over the Pacers<\/a>\u00a0with 6:05\u00a0remaining\u00a0in the game. Indiana closed the game out on a 21-5 run to beat the Warriors 114-109.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re talking about a team that was [0-5]\u00a0and we got the game in complete control, and then just down the stretch, let\u00a0it go,\u201d Green recalled. \u201cThat\u2019s\u00a0not a characteristic of this team since Jimmy [Butler] has come to this team, but that was something we were struggling with before. We\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0fall back into that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last season, the Warriors lost four games in which they had a double-digit lead during the fourth quarter. Three of those blown leads were before\u00a0the team\u00a0acquired\u00a0Butler.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Green,\u00a0the problem lies on the offensive side of the ball.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think offensively we\u00a0got to figure it out. We got to figure our spacing out, we\u00a0got to figure the turnovers out,\u201d Green explained. \u201cThe turnovers are adding up\u00a0more and more\u00a0each game, and\u00a0they&#8217;re\u00a0costly. We got a really good defense; it\u2019s hard to get your defense set when you\u2019re just turning the ball\u00a0over.They\u2019re\u00a0not playing against our\u00a0half court\u00a0defense, and again you get back to the thing where you\u2019re allowing guys to get off, that allows guys to get a rhythm and get to feeling good.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Golden State\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsportsbayarea.com\/nba\/golden-state-warriors\/road-losses-bucks-pacers\/1888795\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">looks\u00a0to bounce back this week<\/a>\u00a0with a\u00a0Western Conference\u00a0slate that\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0get much easier, starting with back-to-back games against the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings at home and on the road, respectively.
