As we near the 2025 season’s midpoint and the trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, Week 9 provided plenty to talk about \u2014 there were some wild wins<\/a> and upsets<\/a>, with the Chicago Bears avoiding disaster<\/a> against the Cincinnati Bengals, much to the chagrin<\/a> of the Cincinnati offense.<\/p>\n

NFL trade deadline action sped up on Tuesday, starting out with the Dallas Cowboys acquiring some much-needed help on defense, trading for linebacker Logan Wilson<\/a>. Then the New York Jets began to sell the house.<\/p>\n

First, they sent two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts<\/a> in exchange for two first-round picks. The Jets announced the trade<\/a>, and Gardner wrote a brief goodbye to the fans of New York on X<\/a> Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Then the Jets sent Pro Bowl defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys<\/a> for a package including a first-round pick, according to multiple reports<\/a>. The deal bolsters Dallas’ much-maligned defense sending more valuable draft capitol to New York.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, veteran wideout Jakobi Meyers also found a new home ahead of the trade deadline, as the Raiders traded him to the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the move, Meyers finally gets the trade he requested ahead of the 2025 season, and Jacksonville adds some depth to the receiving corps with WR\/CB Travis Hunter out on injured reserve with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Trade deadline aside, Week 9 also left NFL fans with plenty of injuries to monitor in the weeks to come. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels went down with a gruesome left elbow injury<\/a> after he landed awkwardly late in their blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud left Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos<\/a> early with a concussion, with head coach DeMeco Ryans calling the hit an uncalled “unnecessary roughness” penalty.<\/p>\n

Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft was carted off on Sunday with a knee injury<\/a>, which testing revealed to be a torn ACL, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported<\/a> Monday. Additionally, Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Joe Alt was carted off with an ankle injury<\/a> \u2014 the same ankle that kept him out for three games earlier this season \u2014 in a huge blow to the Chargers’ offensive line.<\/p>\n

The New York Jets appear to be tearing it all down on trade deadline day. Shortly after dealing star cornerback Sauce Gardner, the team also traded three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.<\/p>\n

The Jets will receive a packaging including a first-round pick in the deal.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Rams terminated offensive lineman Wyatt Bowles from the practice squad and signed long snapper Jake McQuaide to it. McQuaide is a 14-year NFL veteran and two-time Pro Bowl selection who’s played for five franchises.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Browns are trading pass rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka<\/a> and a seventh-round pick to the Chicago Bears, according to multiple reports<\/a>. In exchange, the Bears will send a sixth-round pick to Chicago.<\/p>\n

A fifth-year NFL veteran, Tryon-Shoyinka will provide depth for Chicago’s pass rush after lost defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo to a season-ending Achilles tear. Tryon-Shoyinka has 15 sacks for his career, but none this season in eight games.<\/p>\n

Seattle is reportedly sending two 2026 draft picks<\/a> (4th and 5th round) to New Orleans in exchange for the wideout.<\/p>\n

The Sehawks add another weapon to play alongside star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. At 6-2 and tied for first in the NFC West, Seattle is getting aggressive in trying to win now.<\/p>\n

The New York Jets have traded former All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts <\/a>for two first-round draft picks. The Jets announced the trade on Tuesday. Gardner was Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2022 and was named first-team All-Pro in his first two NFL seasons.<\/p>\n

The 6’3″ cornerback led the league in passes defended in his rookie year with 20. So far this season, Gardner has 20 total tackles and six passes defended in seven games.<\/p>\n

Indianapolis gets Gardner’s services under contract for the next 5.5 years, for $131.5 million (minus what the Jets already paid in 2025).<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters<\/a> Tuesday that cornerback Jalen Ramsey will continue to “exclusively” play free safety Sunday on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.<\/p>\n

Ramsey slid back there this past weekend because of the Steelers’ injuries at the position. He joined Kyle Dugger, whom Pittsburgh traded for last week. Together, they helped slow an Indianapolis Colts offense that was off to a historic start over its previous eight games.<\/p>\n

The Jacksonville Jaguars like what they saw from wideout Jakobi Meyers on Sunday. Just days after Meyers and the Raiders played against the Jaguars, the team acquired Meyers in a trade<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meyers was traded to Jacksonville on Tuesday in exchange for a fourth and sixth-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.<\/p>\n

Meyers, 28, has been a solid contributor over the past four seasons, gaining at least 800 receiving yards every single year. The veteran was unhappy with the Raiders and asked for a trade<\/a> prior to the start of the 2025 NFL season.<\/p>\n

Meyers got his wish Tuesday and will now look for another 800-yard season with the Jaguars. He’s set to be a free agent at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

With wideout Kayshon Boutte battling a hamstring injury, the New England Patriots are adding another player at the position. Brenden Rice, the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, reportedly signed with the organization Tuesday, per reports.<\/p>\n

Brenden has minimal NFL experience, playing in three games with the Los Angeles Chargers last season.<\/p>\n

The Chargers selected Brenden in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. While he was able to get some playing time with the organization last season, the team waived Brenden during training camp.<\/p>\n

The former USC wideout remained unsigned until Tuesday, when the Patriots reportedly came calling.<\/p>\n

Baltimore is sending Tennessee a 2026 conditional fifth-round draft<\/a> pick in return.<\/p>\n

Jones, 28, was a third-round draft pick by the Broncos in 2019. He spent four seasons in Denver before moving on to the Seahawks in free agency. After two years in Seattle, he was released and inked a one-year deal with the Titans last March.<\/p>\n

In 99 career games, Jones has 35 career sacks, 45 tackles for loss and seven pass deflections.<\/p>\n

Jerry Jones made right on his claim that the Dallas Cowboys had a trade in the works. The team acquired linebacker Logan Wilson on Tuesday, hours after Jones said it would make a move before the trade deadline.<\/p>\n

Wilson, 29, reportedly requested a trade from the Bengals after seeing his playing time decrease in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

The veteran has been an effective player in the past, averaging 115.5 tackles per season over the last four years. He’s also picked off nine passes over that period.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh says he doesn’t expect rookie running back Omarion Hampton<\/a> back with the team until after the Week 12 bye. Hampton has been out on injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury in the Chargers’ Week 5 loss to Washington.<\/p>\n

The No. 22 overall pick in April’s draft, Hampton started five games before the ankle injury, rushing for 314 yards, 2 touchdowns, and averaging 4.8 yards per carry.<\/p>\n

Arizona Cardinals rookie Walter Nolen has been activated from the PUP list and cleared to make his NFL debut Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n

The defensive tackle suffered a calf injury in training camp<\/a> and was not able to play in Arizona’s first seven games. The Cardinals selected Nolen with the 16th pick of April’s draft out of Mississippi to anchor their interior line.<\/p>\n

A capable pass rusher who can create pressure up the middle, Nolen recorded 6.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 3 passes defended and 2 forced fumbles in 13 games for Mississippi last season.<\/p>\n

After re-injuring his ankle in their win<\/a> over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Joe Alt’s season is now over. The Los Angeles Chargers lineman will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his right high-ankle sprain, the team confirmed on Monday.<\/p>\n

The Chargers have now lost both starting tackles to season-ending injuries this season after Rashawn Slater went down.<\/p>\n

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters Monday that wide receiver Tee Higgins has cleared concussion protocol after being evaluated for a head injury late in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n

Per Taylor, running back Samaje Perine has a high-ankle sprain, and defensive end Shemar Stewart has a knee injury. Both are considered week-to-week with their injuries.<\/p>\n

Odeyingbo, who joined the Bears in free agency this past offseason, had 21 total tackles and a sack this season.<\/p>\n

The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that rookie defensive lineman Mykel Williams did tear his ACL. Williams was the No. 11 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft and has appeared in all nine of San Francisco’s games thus far. He had 20 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 sack.<\/p>\n
