Supplemental Security Income payments were issued at the end of October<\/a> for the month of November. But the timing of Social Security benefits is business as usual for the many California recipients. <\/p>\n In December 2024, over 6 million people in California received Social Security, according to the Social Security Administration\u2019s\u00a0figures<\/a>, with about 78% being retired workers.<\/p>\n Social Security benefits are paid on four dates in November, mainly corresponding to recipients\u2019 birthdays.<\/p>\n Here are those payment dates, according to the\u00a0SSA’s calendar<\/a>:<\/p>\n Nov. 3:\u00a0Recipients who received Social Security before May 1997 or receive both Social Security and SSI payments. If the latter, Social Security is paid on the 3rd.<\/p>\n Nov. 12:\u00a0Recipients whose birth date falls between the 1st\u00a0and 10th<\/p>\n Nov. 19:\u00a0Recipients whose birth date falls between the 11th\u00a0and 20th<\/p>\n Nov. 26:\u00a0Recipients whose birth date falls between the 21st\u00a0and 31st<\/p>\n Is Social Security affected by the government shutdown?<\/p>\n At the start of October, the\u00a0Social Security Administration<\/a>\u00a0said that during the shutdown, payments to all who currently receive Social Security benefits and SSI \u201cwill continue with no change in payment dates\u201d and that people \u201cwill still receive your payments on time.\u201d The agency said that local offices would remain open to the public but would provide reduced services. About 6,000 SSA employees were expected to be furloughed in the shutdown, according to its September\u00a0contingency plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n See December Social Security payment schedule<\/p>\n Looking ahead to December?
