If you downloaded the update and noticed your device&#8217;s battery is draining faster than usual, Apple wrote online that it&#8217;s normal and &#8212; most important &#8212; temporary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"u-speakableText-p2\">Some people notice their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/mobile\/exclusive-iphone-battery-showdown-3-years-of-data-show-how-the-iphone-17-models-measure-up\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone battery<\/a> drains quickly after downloading an update, and Apple released a statement in September saying it&#8217;s nothing to worry about.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t miss any of our unbiased tech content and lab-based reviews.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=cnet.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Add CNET<\/a>\u00a0as a preferred Google source.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is normal, as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets, and updating apps,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/125039\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Apple wrote in a support page<\/a>. &#8220;Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But your personal iPhone usage could contribute to battery drain. Apple said some features might need more resources to function, so depending on how much you use your iPhone, you might &#8220;notice a small impact on performance and\/or battery life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So while your device might experience some additional battery drain at first, it should be a temporary issue after you download iOS 26.1.
