Angel Reese enjoys promoting herself, but she also loves lifting up others, quite literally.<\/p>\n
Take for example the postgame scene of the Chicago Sky\u2019s victory over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday. Chicago forward Rebecca Allen dropped a game-high 27 points and stood surrounded by smiling teammates. A second later, Reese entered the fray, grabbed Allen around the waist and hoisted her a couple feet off the ground, letting her teammate bask in the applause of a sellout crowd.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really like Angel,\u201d Allen said. \u201cPicking me up, she knows I\u2019d be embarrassed with that, too. So that\u2019s why she did it. That was a lot of fun, I did not expect it at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reese, now in her second season with the Sky after being selected No. 7 overall in 2024, prides herself in exceeding expectations. Doubts and limitations don\u2019t register in mind. The 23-year-old\u2019s stardom has only grown, and she aims to improve her game as her image becomes more popular. Whether it be through a signature shoe or video game cover, Reese extends her presence and impact as far as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes people tell you that you don\u2019t need to go so far,\u201d Reese told reporters prior to Wednesday\u2019s game. \u201cAnd I had limitations that were skyrocketing of things people didn\u2019t think I could accomplish. So I would tell all the girls out there, \u2018You can accomplish anything you put your mind to, no matter how big it is.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Reese\u2019s accomplishments this season include six straight games with at least 10 points and 15 rebounds, a league record. Dallas snapped that streak, as Reese only grabbed only 11 boards, but she still shot 60% from the floor, a sign of her improved shooting.<\/p>\n
Over her first seven games this season, Reese averaged a 29.6% field-goal percentage. In the past seven contests, she\u2019s averaging a 47.5% mark.<\/p>\n
\u201cI could have put my head down, made excuses and pointed the finger, but four fingers point right back to yourself,\u201d Reese said. \u201cI\u2019m grateful to be where I\u2019m at right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reese\u2019s on-court play earned the forward her second All-Star nod. The reserve was drafted by team captain Napheesa Collier of Minnesota, pitting Reese against her old college rival Caitlin Clark, who captains the opposition. Reese has heard the narrative of her against Clark before, and she is excited to play alongside and against greats from around the league.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe play defense, and it\u2019s going to be super competitive, so watch out,\u201d Reese said.<\/p>\n
Fans of Reese will be on the lookout for the Angel Reese 1s, her signature shoe with Reebok. Reese is the fifth active WNBA player to have a signature shoe, according to Andscape. Reebok unveiled the shoe on Wednesday, and Reese debuted the all-white footwear against Dallas, even sporting a T-shirt advertising the shoe before the game.<\/p>\n
About a year after appearing on the cover of Vogue magazine, Reese now graces the cover of the NBA2K video game releasing in September. She appears on the game\u2019s WNBA Edition, joining Oklahoma City\u2019s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Standard Edition), and Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony (Superstar Edition).<\/p>\n
The trio of players appear on a special edition of the game, titled the Leave No Doubt Edition, a mantra Reese lives by and on and off the court.<\/p>\n
