{"id":274163,"date":"2025-11-06T01:31:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T01:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/274163\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T01:31:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T01:31:15","slug":"rennae-stubbs-has-questions-to-ask-after-noticing-change-in-madison-keys-you-wonder-what-is-going-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/274163\/","title":{"rendered":"Rennae Stubbs has questions to ask after noticing change in Madison Keys, &#8216;you wonder what is going on&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>Madison Keys\u2019 2025 WTA Finals campaign didn\u2019t quite go to plan\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Competing at the event for the first time in nine years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/madison-keys\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Keys<\/a> was placed in \u2018Group Serena Williams\u2019, with Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Amanda Anisimova.<\/p>\n<p>Playing her first match since the US Open, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/madison-keys-says-theres-three-areas-of-iga-swiateks-game-which-have-really-improved-recently-i-can-tell\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Keys was hammered by Swiatek<\/a>, 1-6, 2-6, leaving her semifinal hopes hanging by a thread.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2244480356-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys shake hands after their match at the 2025 WTA Finals\" class=\"wp-image-140578\" \/>Photo by Matthew Stockman\/Getty Images for WTA<\/p>\n<p>Then, despite winning the first set, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/amanda-anisimova-admits-what-she-was-doing-wrong-in-the-first-set-against-madison-keys-at-the-wta-finals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Keys lost to Anisimova<\/a>, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, as she exited the competition at the round robin stage, just as she did back in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Weighing in with her thoughts on Keys\u2019 efforts in Riyadh, doubles legend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/rennae-stubbs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rennae Stubbs<\/a> had plenty of questions to ask.<\/p>\n<p>Rennae Stubbs thinks Madison Keys may be suffering from a shoulder issue<\/p>\n<p>During the latest episode of the \u2018Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, the 54-year-old identified a change Keys has made to her serve recently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMadi Keys was coming in here, not playing in Cincinnati and at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a>, and now has this random abbreviation to her serve motion,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know what is going on there. She changed serve at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/australian-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australian Open<\/a> and going into the Aussie Open, bringing the leg up. I love it. It protects her hip and helps her adductors, where she tends to have a lot of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow you think what is going on with this abbreviation of her serve? Just taking the racket head up quickly, is that because she has a shoulder issue? There have been so many iterations of this serve now. You wonder what is going on.
