{"id":275560,"date":"2025-11-06T17:25:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T17:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/275560\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T17:25:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T17:25:07","slug":"justin-turner-becomes-free-agent-after-chicago-cubs-decline-mutual-option","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/275560\/","title":{"rendered":"Justin Turner becomes free agent after Chicago Cubs decline mutual option"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHICAGO (AP) \u2014 Infielder Justin Turner became a free agent Thursday after the Chicago Cubs declined a $10 million mutual option.<\/p>\n<p>Turner will receive a $2 million buyout as part of a <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/cubs-justin-turner-728b4e636837d69455633c4590008fae\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">contract that included a $4 million salary this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A first baseman and third baseman who turns 41 on Nov. 23, Turner hit .219 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 80 games.<\/p>\n<p>Turner is a two-time All-Star and was a 2020 World Series champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
