McFadden also wrote about the Baltimore Ravens and University of Maryland athletics for The Baltimore Sun.<\/p>\n DENVER — Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson<\/a> was ruled out of Thursday night’s 10-7 loss<\/a> to the Denver Broncos<\/a> after suffering an ankle injury, and coach Pete Carroll said he will be out “for a while.”<\/p>\n Powers-Johnson was hurt at the beginning of the second quarter when he rolled his ankle while quarterback Geno Smith<\/a> was sacked by Denver edge rusher Nik Bonitto<\/a>.<\/p>\n Powers-Johnson was on the ground momentarily and then helped off the field by trainers. The Raiders took down the medical tent and carted Powers-Johnson into the locker room.<\/p>\n The former Oregon standout was not the only injury on Las Vegas’ offensive line. Starting left guard Dylan Parham<\/a> suffered a high ankle sprain, which also occurred in the second quarter.<\/p>\n Editor’s Picks The injuries left Las Vegas without three of its starters on the offensive line. Veteran left tackle Kolton Miller<\/a> is on injured reserve because of an ankle injury.<\/p>\n Smith, who was sacked six times, was limping late in the game and had his left quad wrapped at the end. Carroll said Smith sustained a bruise to his thigh but that he isn’t expected to miss time.<\/p>\n “Obviously, I just played a game, so I’m not feeling the best, but I will be better as the days go along, hopefully,” Smith said.<\/p>\n Smith was injured at the start of the fourth quarter when he was tripped by Bonitto and then defensive lineman Malcolm Roach<\/a> fell on top of Smith’s leg. Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett<\/a> replaced Smith, who returned to the game on the Raiders’ next possession. Smith said he decided to finish the game despite the pain.<\/p>\n “That’s how I’m wired,” said Smith, who was 16-of-26 for 143 yards and an interception. “I never wanted to leave my teammates out there.
