{"id":277498,"date":"2025-11-07T15:43:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T15:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/277498\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T15:43:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T15:43:08","slug":"amc-networks-sheds-5-of-global-workforce-via-voluntary-buyouts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/277498\/","title":{"rendered":"AMC Networks Sheds 5% Of Global Workforce Via Voluntary Buyouts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/amc-networks\/\" id=\"auto-tag_amc-networks\" data-tag=\"amc-networks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AMC Networks<\/a>, which is continuing to navigate the transition from linear TV to streaming, is shedding about 5% of its global workforce of 1,800 employees via voluntary buyouts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCEO <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/kristin-dolan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kristin-dolan\" data-tag=\"kristin-dolan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kristin Dolan<\/a> announced the reduction Friday during the company\u2019s third-quarter <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/earnings\/\" id=\"auto-tag_earnings\" data-tag=\"earnings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earnings<\/a> call with Wall Street analysts. The company had earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/amc-networks-q3-earnings-advertising-streaming-1236609620\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported mixed results for the quarter<\/a>, with advertising sliding 17% but streaming revenue climbing 14%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn the company\u2019s earnings release, Dolan called the quarterly performance \u201ca key milestone in our transition from a cable networks business to a global streaming and technology focused content company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDolan said \u201cless than 5%\u201d of the workforce would be departing as a result of an initiative to \u201censure we have the right skills for the future.\u201d She added that company leaders are \u201cthankful for the contributions of those who have chosen to pursue new opportunities, and of course those who are driving this new era of the company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAMC Networks, parent of cable networks AMC, IFC, Sundance TV, We TV and BBC America, also operates a portfolio of niche streaming services AMC+, Shudder and Acorn TV, with a total of 10.4 million subscribers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe downsizing at AMC Networks comes during <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/feature\/hollywood-media-layoffs-list-1236007845\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a much broader pullback<\/a> across the entertainment sector. Paramount, in the wake of its merger with Skydance, is laying off about 2,000 workers, about 10% of its total head count. Warner Bros. Discovery recently initiated layoffs in its cable business, and is likely to be part of more cutbacks as it nears a transaction to either be acquired or split into two companies. Disney also let several hundred workers go last summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt isn\u2019t just traditional media tightening the belt, however. Advances in artificial intelligence are resulting in significant cuts even at Big Tech firms.
