Denver \u2013 An NBA Hall of Famer revealed this week that Steph Curry<\/a> sent him into retirement.<\/p>\n

Mind the Game<\/a> podcast cohosts Steve Nash and LeBron James welcomed Curry onto the show, where the three living legends opened their discussion by reminiscing about the Warriors\u2019<\/a> 2014 preseason.<\/p>\n

In a 116-75 victory in Ontario, a spry 26-year-old Curry scored 25 points on 8 of 11 shooting while 40-year-old Nash labored around the court alongside Kobe Bryant.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s running everywhere, and my back is broke,\u201d Nash said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t have stopped him if I was 100%. I\u2019m dragging around every action, and Stevie Kerr is putting me in every action.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter three or four more days of thinking, I was like \u2018Yeah, it\u2019s time.\u2019 And that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curry went on to win the first of his two MVPs and led the Warriors to the title.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Nash retired later that season, but his relationship with the Warriors was just beginning. The next year, Nash became a consultant for Golden State.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext thing I know, you show up at our practice and you\u2019re teaching us pick and roll,\u201d Curry said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The trio also spent a considerable amount of time discussing Curry\u2019s revolutionary one-motion jumpshot while taking a few jabs at the notion that the Warriors\u2019 sharpshooter \u201cruined the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou kind of invented something,\u201d Nash said. \u201cYou\u2019ve gone on to become the greatest shooter of all time by a long margin. Range, accuracy, dexterity, off the move, left, right, leaning in and leaning back. You do it all. I don\u2019t know if you could do that if you do picture-perfect form.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curry, whose shot has always been considered a bit unorthodox, pointed out that he would not teach his form to kids.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI would teach Klay (Thompson)\u2019s form to anybody who asks, \u2018How do I shoot a basketball?\u2019\u201d Curry said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both Nash and James marveled at Curry\u2019s incessant off-ball activity, a skillset that helped the Warriors defeat James\u2019 Cavaliers in three of four Finals matchups from 2015-2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s most dangerous when he doesn\u2019t have the ball,\u201d James said. \u201cAs a competitor and as a dear friend now, it grinds you in the head.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBob Myers is the first person who said \u2018You should shoot 15 threes a game,\u2019\u201d Curry said. \u201cI was like, \u2018What? Do you know how hard it is to get 12 good looks up? He was like \u2018Why not?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

It was the first part of a series with the three basketball icons. In the next episode, they alluded to having a discussion about James\u2019 and Curry\u2019s Finals matchups.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Injury updates<\/p>\n

Curry will miss a second consecutive game<\/a> with an illness when the Warriors visit the Nuggets on Friday night, according to the official NBA injury update. He remained in the Bay Area to recover rather than make the trip to Denver for an NBA Cup game.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Butler was questionable with a lower back strain, which kept him out of the Warriors\u2019 loss in Sacramento<\/a> on Wednesday.
