Another of the wolves released in Colorado earlier this year as part of the state\u2019s reintroduction effort has died, wildlife officials said Friday.<\/p>\n

Colorado Parks and Wildlife learned of the death of the female wolf \u2014 given the identification number 2506 \u2014 when its collar gave a mortality notice on Oct. 30. The wolf died in southwest Colorado.<\/p>\n

The agency did not disclose how the wolf died. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service<\/a> will investigate the death and release the cause of death.<\/p>\n

The female wolf was one of 15 captured in Canada and released into Colorado<\/a> in January. Six of those wolves<\/a> have since died, including two that were legally shot in Wyoming.<\/p>\n

Twenty collared wolves now roam Colorado<\/a>, and at least 10 pups were born this summer in the state\u2019s four packs.<\/p>\n
