The man is identified as 45-year-old Courtney Alford. Police say Alford fled using a side door.<\/p>\n
“One woman recounted how she woke up in the middle of the night, in her room, and other roommates, and there was this man inside there. A man that she doesn’t know,” says White.<\/p>\n
Officer White suggests that because it was a busy Halloween night on Greek Row at Cal, it is possible that security in and out of the house was relaxed. He says surveillance video indicates a man who looks like Alford was in and out of the house for at least three hours.<\/p>\n
“We know, at least, at one point, he went into the shower room. And watching the women as they shower. He had also taken some underwear from a room,” says White.<\/p>\n
There are no reports of any physical injuries to the women at the house.<\/p>\n
White says police used surveillance footage to ID Alford-and Flock technology to identify his car. Alford was arrested on Wednesday in Castro Valley.<\/p>\n
“We later were able to do a search warrant on his home in Dublin, where we found over 900 rounds of ammunition. High-capacity magazines. And also, parts to an assault rifle,” says White.<\/p>\n
Alford was in court on Friday, facing 11 counts, including burglary, peeking while loitering, invasion of privacy, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Court documents show Alford was also charged in another case of a felony lewd act on a minor last year. That case is ongoing. Alford has four other priors dating back to 1999.<\/p>\n
In a statement to ABC7 News, a representative with UC Berkeley’s Student Affairs confirmed the incident, stating: “Our Student Affairs team is aware, in contact with the organization, and offering support resources.”<\/p>\n
