Jannik Sinner has struggled against his greatest rival, Carlos Alcaraz.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner has only lost six matches this year, but four of his defeats came at the hands of the 22-year-old Spaniard.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, Alcaraz beat Sinner in two Grand Slam finals, clinching titles at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/french-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roland Garros<\/a> and the US Open.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"673\" loading=\"lazy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alcaraz<\/a> who continues to dominate their rivalry.<\/p>\n<p>Weighing in with his thoughts on the Alcaraz\/Sinner rivalry, former major champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/nicolas-mahut\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nicolas Mahut<\/a> had this to say.<\/p>\n<p>Nicolas Mahut thinks Jannik Sinner is becoming \u2018a bit obsessed\u2019 with Carlos Alcaraz<\/p>\n<p>Working for Eurosport France, Mahut gave his verdict on the biggest rivalry in men\u2019s tennis (translated from French).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he [Sinner] can improve his game further, especially in certain areas of the court,\u201d said Mahut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListening to his comments, I have no doubt that he is a bit obsessed with [Carlos] Alcaraz.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\" Jannik Sinner\u2019s head-to-head record<\/p>\n<p>Sinner has lost five of the seven finals he\u2019s played against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alcaraz<\/a>, and could already be a six-time Grand Slam champion if it weren\u2019t for his 22-year-old rival.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing their head-to-head 5-10, it\u2019s clear Sinner has some real work to do in the off-season if he wants to get back to winning ways against Alcaraz.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He has an excellent chance of winning in Turin\u2019 \u2013 Nicolas Mahut on Jannik Sinner<\/p>\n<p>Despite his shortcomings against Alcaraz, Mahut believes Sinner is the man to beat on indoor hard courts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is also no doubt that Jannik is the best player in the world on indoor courts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he maintains this form, he has an excellent chance of winning in Turin too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sinner won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp-finals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP Finals<\/a> title in 2024 and is a strong favorite to retain his crown in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian has been placed in the \u2018Bjorn Borg Group\u2019 this time around and will compete as the number-two seed.<\/p>\n<p>2025 ATP Finals \u2018Bjorn Borg Group\u2019[2] Jannik being said, Mahut doesn\u2019t expect Sinner to finish the year ranked number one in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not convinced he\u2019ll finish 2025 at the top of the ATP rankings, because I believe Alcaraz will manage to get three victories at the ATP Finals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The world number one defends 1,500 points from his perfect 2024 ATP Finals campaign, whereas Alcaraz defends just round robin stage, if Alcaraz were to go unbeaten en route to the semifinals, he\u2019d guarantee himself the year-end number one ranking for the first time since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell how Sinner and Alcaraz will perform at the ATP Finals, but you certainly won\u2019t want to miss any of the action when the tournament begins on Sunday, November
