It\u2019s also affecting the NFL, in a less important way.<\/p>\n<p>Via Tara Copp of the Washington Post, the NFL\u2019s Veterans Day celebrations <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2025\/11\/06\/nfl-salute-to-service-flyovers-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">will not occur this weekend<\/a>. That means no flyovers and no service members unfurling field-sized flags before games. <\/p>\n<p>As Copp explains it, the Pentagon said that service members and other personnel from the Department of Defense are \u201cprohibited from participating in official outreach activities.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>For some games, other groups have filled the void. For example, the Tri-State Warbird Museum in Ohio provided a flyover at last weekend\u2019s Bears-Bengals game with a restored B-25 Mitchell bomber aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>One employee of the federal government will be present at a game this weekend. The Commanders have announced that President Trump <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RapSheet\/status\/1986866084612284679?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">will attend<\/a> the Week 10 visit from the Lions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The ongoing shutdown of the federal government has had a wide variety of important consequences.
