(WLOS) \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/urban-renewal-hendersonville-creek-likely-named-brooklyn-community-city-council-vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brooklyn Creek<\/a> Restoration Project in Hendersonville\u2019s Sullivan Park has been awarded the 2025 Stormwater Project of the Year by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Stormwater Division.<\/p>\n<p>According to a release from the city of Hendersonville, the award highlights its commitment to improving water quality, reducing flood risks, and restoring natural stream functions within an important community park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/new-budgeting-initiative-allows-empowers-build-hendersonville-residents-help-shape-citys-future-budget-program-participatory-develop-funding-capital-improvement-projects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NEW BUDGETING INITIATIVE EMPOWERS HENDERSONVILLE RESIDENTS TO HELP SHAPE CITY&#8217;S FUTURE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Brooklyn Creek project combined ecological restoration with community benefit by enhancing Sullivan Park, increasing habitat diversity, and providing long-term stormwater management improvements, the press release said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"2025 - After the completion of the Brooklyn Creek Restoration Project in Hendersonville\u2019s Sullivan Park.
