Alexander Zverev will play Jannik Sinner for the third time in three weeks at the ATP Finals in Turin.<\/p>\n

The German star lost to Sinner<\/a> in the final of the Vienna Open and the semifinals of the Paris Masters recently.<\/p>\n

He now trails the world number one 4-5 in their head-to-head, having led 4-1 just over a year ago.<\/p>\n

The record doesn\u2019t bode well for Zverev heading into the ATP Finals<\/a>, as he and Sinner are set to headline the \u2018Bjorn Borg Group\u2019.<\/p>\n

During a pre-tournament press conference, Zverev was asked if he would rather have been placed in the same group as Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> than Sinner.<\/p>\n

Alexander Zverev says Jannik Sinner is the best player in the world and thinks Carlos Alcaraz would agree<\/p>\n

Zverev didn\u2019t hesitate to tell the world he\u2019d rather play Alcaraz than Sinner.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarlos!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, to be honest. Well, it matters, but they are both the best players in the world for sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut for me, on this particular surface and indoors on a faster hard court, I feel like this court is much faster than Paris. I think Jannik [Sinner] is the best player in the world, and I think if you ask Carlos [Alcaraz], Carlos would probably agree.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, anybody can beat anybody, and of course, Carlos can beat Jannik and the other way around.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut also the last two years with Carlos in one group, I was able to win both of those matches.<\/p>\n

Another member of the \u2018Bjorn Borg Group\u2019, Ben Shelton<\/a>, provided a very different response.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that my first time playing in this event here in Italy, I am somebody who likes big crowds and feeling the energy from the crowd, whether it is with me or against me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hoped that I was in the group of whatever Italians were in the tournament, to be able to feel that and experience that. I thought it would be very cool.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if that\u2019s the exact answer that you were looking for on what I hoped, but I thought it would be a cool experience to play an Italian here in Torino.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shelton may well get to play two Italians in Turin, should Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> sneak into the competition with a win at the Hellenic Championship in Greece.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen who will advance from the \u2018Bjorn Borg Group\u2019, but you certainly won\u2019t want to miss any of the action when the tournament begins on Sunday, November 9.<\/p>\n

Alexander Zverev\u2019s record against Carlos Alcaraz<\/p>\n

Zverev insisted he\u2019d prefer to play Alcaraz over Sinner, but how well has he performed against the six-time Grand Slam winner over the years?<\/p>\n

There\u2019s been nothing to separate the pair through 12 career meetings, as Zverev and Alcaraz are tied at 6-6 in their head-to-head.<\/p>\n

It was Alcaraz, however, who won their last encounter, picking up the win in the semifinals of the 2025 Cincinnati Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zverev will no doubt be on the lookout for revenge should they face off at this year\u2019s tour finals.<\/p>\n

The pair could potentially meet in the semifinals, depending on where they finish in their respective groups.<\/p>\n
