Perhaps the biggest Big 12 game of the year is in Lubbock Saturday afternoon. That\u2019s where BYU<\/a> and Texas Tech<\/a> will square off in a high-stakes affair.<\/p>\n

The Cougars and Red Raiders are both squarely in the conference race. They also appeared in the initial College Football Playoff<\/a> rankings ahead of Week 11. BYU ranked No. 7 in the first Top 25<\/a> while Texas Tech was directly behind at No. 8. That added to the anticipation for Saturday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

Texas Tech got another field goal with 8:08 to go in the second quarter. Stone Harrington made it from 27 yards to extend the Red Raiders\u2019 lead to 13-0. Harrington noticeably limped off the field afterward, though.<\/p>\n

After losing a yard on third down, BYU opted to send out the field goal team. But Will Ferrin\u2019s 51-yarder missed wide left, meaning the Cougars came up empty and Texas Tech will take over at its own 41-yard line.<\/p>\n

Through one quarter, Texas Tech held a 10-0 lead over BYU. The Red Raiders totaled 68 yards through the first 15 minutes, led by 61 passing from Behren Morton, while the Cougars had 46 yards in the opening frame.<\/p>\n

As time ticked away in the first quarter, Texas Tech found pay dirt. Behren Morton found Caleb Douglas in the back of the end zone for a touchdown, extending the Red Raiders lead to 10-0.<\/p>\n

After going three-and-out in the red zone, including another Behren Morton sack on third down, Texas Tech settled for the field goal. Stone Harrington\u2019s 47-yard attempt was true, putting the Red Raiders ahead 3-0 early.<\/p>\n

After forcing Texas Tech to punt, BYU had trouble with the return. The Cougars fumbled, and the Red Raiders recovered \u2013 taking over at the 17-yard line.<\/p>\n
