Fox News<\/a> personality Greg Gutfeld claims he\u2019s a bigger fan of Whoopi Goldberg than some might think.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Whoopi,\u201d he told The New York Times<\/a> in a wide-ranging interview published on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The host of \u201cGutfeld!\u201d and \u201cThe Five\u201d made the comment <\/a>while asserting he has no ill will towards people on the receiving end of his often harsh mockery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI genuinely like people that I tease,\u201d he said. \u201cIn fact, if you want to know the people I don\u2019t like, it\u2019s the people that I don\u2019t tease.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you must love the women of \u2018The View,\u2019\u201d journalist David Marchese replied.<\/p>\n

Gutfeld has repeatedly derided the hosts of \u201cThe View,\u201d widely considered a liberal talk show.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir brains are small, but who\u2019s the dumbest one of all?\u201d he asked in one clip<\/a> from last year.<\/p>\n

In another, in which he criticized Goldberg for controversial comments<\/a> in which she likened life in Iran to living in the United States as a Black person, he said<\/a>, \u201cWhoopi once again has been caught, being even dumber than we thought.\u201d (He likes to rhyme<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, he indicated that Marchese\u2019s sarcastic comment was actually correct. <\/p>\n

\u201cYes,\u201d Gutfeld said. \u201cI adore \u2014 I love Whoopi.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRosie O\u2019Donnell, you must be a big fan of?\u201d Marchese pressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, Rosie, I love her,\u201d the right-wing commentator said, before adding, \u201cI make fun of everybody that I love, and relentlessly.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the conversation continued, Gutfeld claimed that the kind of derision he dishes out is different from the sort seen on the left.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe teasing and the ridicule is not \u2018You\u2019re Hitler\u2019 or \u2018You\u2019re a fascist,\u2019 or an authoritarian,\u201d he said. \u201cIf I\u2019m to insult you over the top, it\u2019s because it\u2019s obviously a joke. But I don\u2019t put a target on your back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marchese called that stance \u201ca little disingenuous,\u201d citing a line from one of Gutfeld\u2019s own books that the interviewer quoted as, \u201cThe left are dumb, fascist mother-effers.\u201d<\/p>\n
