V.F.: Nobody\u2019s having a better time at this induction ceremony than Hiro Yamamoto, Soundgarden\u2019s original bassist. Every time the camera pans to them he has the biggest grin.<\/p>\n
M.W.: Audioslave! I totally forgot about Audioslave.<\/p>\n
V.F.: You forgot because they were far inferior to Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine.<\/p>\n
M.W.: Not sure about Carrey\u2019s designation of \u201cBlack Hole Sun\u201d as Soundgarden\u2019s magnum opus. I\u2019m an \u201cOutshined\u201d guy.<\/p>\n
V.F.: Agreed. I am forever a \u201cBadmotorfinger\u201d girlie forever looking California and feeling Minnesota, but \u201cBlack Hole Sun\u201d isn\u2019t even the magnum opus of \u201cSuperunknown.\u201d I mean, \u201cThe Day I Tried to Live\u201d is on that album.<\/p>\n
No lie, as soon as I heard that opening riff of \u201cRusty Cage\u201d I threw my fists in the air and yelled \u201cYes!\u201d (Like I said, I\u2019m a \u201cBadmotorfinger\u201d girlie.) And Taylor Momsen is so good. I first heard her sing with them at the Chris Cornell tribute at the Forum in 2019 and I was blown away.<\/p>\n

Brandi Carlile really does love Soundgarden (though she\u2019s dressed like she\u2019s in My Chemical Romance)<\/p>\n
V.F.: MCR was also the first thing I thought of. Brandi joined the black parade! <\/p>\n
You know I\u2019m a big Brandi Carlile fan and I know she recorded \u201cBlack Hole Sun\u201d with the surviving members for Record Store Day a few years back and it\u2019s THE hit, but they have so many stronger songs.<\/p>\n
M.W.: Hiro takes a moment to remember the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II and cautions us against making the same type of mistake today.<\/p>\n
V.F.: I was confused by Matt Cameron thanking Herb Alpert for a moment but then I remembered Soundgarden was on Alpert\u2019s label A&M Records.<\/p>\n
