\n\tAfter the 2026 Grammy nominees were revealed<\/a> on Friday, some music<\/a> lovers are a bit confused about Billie Eilish<\/a>\u2018s nominations, so The Hollywood Reporter is breaking it down.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Grammy and Oscar winner earned two nods for her song \u201cWildflower,\u201d including song and record of the year. After the announcement, Eilish wrote<\/a> on Instagram in celebration, \u201cSong of the year & record of the year for WILDFLOWERthank you\u00a0@recordingacademy\u00a0feeling so grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, some are surprised<\/a> by the eligibility for \u201cWildflower\u201d as it was initially featured on her most recent album, Hit Me Hard and Soft (released in May 2024), which already earned Grammy nominations at the 67th annual ceremony in February 2025, including album of the year and best pop vocal album.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe reason the song is qualified to compete in the upcoming awards ceremony is that \u201cWildflower\u201d was released as a single in\u00a0February 2025, which is between the eligibility period (Aug. 31, 2024 \u2013 Aug. 30, 2025) for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy also views tracks and singles differently, as a \u201ctrack\u201d is released as part of an album and a \u201csingle\u201d is released separately.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cA track or single from a previous year\u2019s album is eligible in the General, Pop & Dance\/Electronic,
Gospel & CCM, Rock, Metal & Alternative Music, R&B, Rap & Spoken Word Poetry, Country &
American Roots Music, Latin, Jazz, Global, African, Reggae & New Age, Ambient, or Chant Fields,
provided the recording was not entered as a track or single the previous year and provided the
album did not win a GRAMMY in a performance Category,\u201d the official Grammy rules state<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd since Hit Me Hard and Soft didn\u2019t win any awards at the 2025 Grammys (Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Cowboy Carter won album of the year and Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Short n\u2019 Sweet won best pop vocal album), that also makes \u201cWildflower\u201d eligible.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the upcoming ceremony, Eilish is up against Bad Bunny\u2019s \u201cDtMF,\u201d Carpenter\u2019s \u201cManchild,\u201d Doechii\u2019s \u201cAnxiety,\u201d Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cAbracadabra,\u201d Kendrick Lamar and SZA\u2019s \u201cluther,\u201d Chappell Roan\u2019s \u201cThe Subway,\u201d and Ros\u00e9 and Bruno Mars\u2019s \u201cAPT\u201d for record of the year. As for song of the year, the singles nominated include \u201cAbracadabra,\u201d \u201cAnxiety,\u201d \u201cAPT.,\u201d \u201cDtMF,\u201d \u201cGolden [From \u201cKPop Demon Hunters\u201d],\u201d \u201cluther,\u201d \u201cManchild\u201d and \u201cWildflower.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2026 Grammys take place on Feb. 1.<\/p>\n
