{"id":282241,"date":"2025-11-10T00:22:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T00:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/282241\/"},"modified":"2025-11-10T00:22:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T00:22:08","slug":"mother-pleads-for-help-finding-missing-12-year-old-son-in-southeast-dc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/282241\/","title":{"rendered":"Mother pleads for help finding missing 12-year-old-son in Southeast DC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Southeast D.C. mother is asking for the public\u2019s help in finding her 12-year-old son, who went missing Sunday morning after leaving home to walk the family dog.<\/p>\n<p>A Southeast D.C. mother is asking for the public\u2019s help in finding her 12-year-old son, who went missing Sunday morning after leaving home to walk the family dog.<\/p>\n<p>Demetri Montgomery, who has autism, was last seen near the 5500 block of C Street SE around 7 a.m. His mother, Cynthia Walton, said he left to walk the family\u2019s white pit bull, Skyla, but never returned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been looking for him since about seven this morning,\u201d Walton said. \u201cI\u2019ve been driving around, putting out flyers, passing flyers out to people walking down the street to see if anybody\u2019s seen him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Community members have joined the search, spending the day canvassing neighborhoods and helping Walton distribute flyers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-newsletter_full_width wp-image-28571034\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/G5VnZw-XAAA9_5F-e1762732767371-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"Demetri Montgomery missing flyer\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"\/>Flyer released by D.C. police for missing 12-year-old Demetri Montgomery. (Courtesy DC Police)<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery is described as a Black male, 5\u20196\u201d tall, weighing 120 pounds, with a medium brown complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a green and gray jacket, black sweatpants with white stripes down the sides and dark blue sneakers.<\/p>\n<p>Walton said her son is verbal and approachable. \u201cHe\u2019s very, very friendly. He\u2019s very polite,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s not a runaway. He don\u2019t even go outside to play or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that while the dog is friendly, it may be protective of Demetri. \u201cThe dog is friendly, but she is protective of Demetri,\u201d Walton said.<\/p>\n<p>Walton urged anyone who sees her son to call police.<\/p>\n<p>She also had a message for her son: \u201cDemetri, if you\u2019re listening, just come home. You not in trouble, you not gonna get yelled at or anything.
