Finland\u2019s unemployment rate climbed to 10.2 percent in the second quarter of the year, according to Statistics Finland’s latest Labour Force Survey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There were 27,000 more unemployed people in April\u2013June than in the same period last year, when the rate was 9.3 percent.<\/p>\n

The agency reported that the average number of unemployed people in April\u2013June was around 297,000.<\/p>\n

As unemployment rose, the number of employed people fell in the second quarter. In April\u2013June, there were 14,000 fewer employed than in the same period last year.<\/p>\n

On average, just over 2.6 million people were employed during the period, with a margin of error of \u00b118,000. The total number of hours worked also declined by just over two percent.<\/p>\n

The decline in the number of employed people was mainly due to a drop in female-dominated sectors, according to the agency. In April\u2013June, there were 18,000 fewer employed women than a year earlier, while the number of employed men rose by 5,000.<\/p>\n
