Hollywood icon Sally Kirkland<\/a> is in hospice after battling devastating health issues this past year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kirkland’s representative\u00a0Michael Greene told the Daily Mail the actress, 84, is now in a hospice at a Palm Springs hospital after becoming afflicted with dementia this last year.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0set up for Kirkland reveals the actress faced ‘two\u00a0separate life-threatening infections’ after fracturing multiple bones this past year and is now ‘resting comfortable’ at the hospice.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Greene said he is now travelling from JFK to see Kirkland and that she ‘will not go until I\u2019m holding her hand.’ Cody Galloway, her dear friend and former student, is currently with Kirkland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip,’ the GoFundMe, which is seeking to raise money for Kirkland’s medical expenses, states.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kirkland’s representative Michael Greene told Daily Mail the actress, 84, is now in a hospice at a Palm Springs hospital after becoming afflicted with dementia this last year<\/p>\n

‘The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover.’<\/p>\n

The legendary actress is best known for her films The Sting and Anna, the ladder of which earned her an Oscar nomination and Golden Globe win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kirkland’s illustrious acting career goes back to the 1960s, with IMDb listing her first-ever role in the\u00a01960 movie Crack In The Mirror.<\/p>\n

In the years to follow, she made appearances in a slew of classic TV shows including Hawaii Five-O, Three’s Company, and Charlie’s Angels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kirkland had a comeback when she co-starred with model Paulina Porizkova in the drama Anna in 1987, landing her\u00a0a Best Actress Oscar nomination and Golden Globe win.<\/p>\n

Other notable big screen roles was the part of\u00a0Anita Mann in Bruce Almighty and a starring role in the Kevin Costner led film JFK.<\/p>\n

Kirkland also starred in the 2014 short\u00a0Tom in America.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

More recently she was apart of the star-studded cast for 80 For Brady, the film starring Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Rita Morena, and Lily Tomlin as massive Tom Brady fans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the small screen, she starred in the TV movies Heat Wave, Steel Magnolias, and was also a regular on Felicity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She’s also worked with Hollywood heavyweights Paul Newman and Robert Redford in The Sting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not only that, but she rubbed elbows with influential types as well; she was a member of Andy Warhol’s factory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kirkland got her start as a model.<\/p>\n

She told Jeff Cramer in 2016: ‘My mother was the assistant editor of Vogue for many years and then she was fashion editor of Vogue I think from \u201947, \u201948 and she was the first person to put multiple models on one page.<\/p>\n

‘I was obsessed with Marilyn Monroe and also at 18 I had met Shelley Winters who took me under her wing, adopted me,’ she said.<\/p>\n

‘She had lived with Marilyn. So she gave me Marilyn\u2019s shoes that were open toe, open back and they were called F*** Me Shoes according to Shelley.
