That is according to Japan rugby boss and pal Eddie Jones, who revealed conversations that have taken place between the pair about the Parkhead hot seat.<\/p>\n
The 60-year-old was brutally axed by Nottingham Forest after just eight games in the hot-seat with the club in the midst of a relegation scrap.<\/p>\n
But the Aussie have proven himself in Europe since moving to Celtic <\/a>back in 2021, leaving the club for Tottenham after two successful campaigns following a Treble success.<\/p>\n After a fifth place finish in his debut Premier League campaign, he lifted the Europa League last term to end Spurs’ silverware drought before being shown the door.<\/p>\n After Brendan Rodgers left the Scottish champions, the 60-year-old rocketed to the top of oddsmakers lists to become the next Parkhead boss.<\/p>\n Since then, reports have emerged that Postecoglou wants to take time away from the game after his disastrous time at the City Ground.<\/p>\n Speaking to YouTuber Nik Simon<\/a>, Jones offered a comparison to the pressures of rugby and the world of football management – and Postecoglou’s current status.<\/p>\n The former England and Australia boss said: “The biggest story in rugby is the England coach being under pressure. Everyone wants to hear about it.<\/p>\n “Everyone has an opinion, it’s an attractive story. It’s the same in New Zealand. Scott Robertson felt the pressure of not being as successful as he would like to be, and again, there is all that conjecture.<\/p>\n “Both of those jobs are pretty taxing, it would be like being in a Premier League job. My mate Ange<\/a> lasted 39 days in the job and he got cut.<\/p>\n “We keep in contact. I saw the rumour about Celtic, but I don’t know whether he would want to go back there or not. I think having experienced Premier League he would like to stay in that area.”<\/p>\n Pressed on if he has discussed Postecoglou’s future with him, Jones went on: ‘Yeah, yeah. We talk – we are probably quite similar blokes in a lot of ways.<\/p>\n “Out of Australia, but not out of the mainstream of Australia. He is a Greek-Australian and I am a Japanese-Australian and we have had to sort of battle to get to where we are.<\/p>\n “We have both coached our national team and left to try and make a name overseas.<\/p>\n “Both of us in some ways have been able to do that, and both are quite driven in how we want to play the game – and you get criticised for it.”<\/p>\n![\"Ange](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0_GettyImages-1258437173.jpg\")
