Maura Healey on Monday discussed the impact of the uncertainty surrounding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, on the people of Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>Healey is set to discuss the commonwealth\u2019s strategy and also address the current administration\u2019s actions around SNAP.<\/p>\n<p>At an afternoon news conference, she addressed how her administration is taking action to support families affected by these cuts.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that about 1 million Massachusetts residents rely on SNAP.<\/p>\n<p>According to her office, she will discuss how the Trump administration is getting in the way of SNAP distribution and ask the administration to extend the Affordable Care Act, or ACA.<\/p>\n<p>The ACA is the central issue Democrats have cited for the government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>JOIN THE CONVERSATION (12)<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, some moderates in the Democratic caucus <a href=\"https:\/\/turnto10.com\/news\/nation-world\/senate-takes-first-step-to-end-historic-shutdown-house-set-to-reconvene-within-36-hours-republicans-democrats-government-shutdown-day-40-affordable-care-act-trump-administration-federal-workers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">made a deal with the Republicans<\/a> that would give the Senate a chance to end the government shutdown.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"(WJAR) \u2014 Gov.
