Florian Thauvin has certainly had a really interesting career in recent years, and it may have been slightly more \u2018normal\u2019 had he opted to join AC Milan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Few players have hit numbers like Thauvin did in the late 2010s, as he scored 53 goals in three seasons in Ligue 1, whilst also providing 29 assists. A phenomenal output record, and it is clear why Milan were interested.<\/p>\n

With an extensive interest in French talents in recent years, it is easy to see how Thauvin was a target for the club, and an effort was made in 2020. However, he made a move to Mexico instead<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A lot has been said about the move since<\/a>, and today, the Frenchman \u2013 who is now back in France after a spell with Udinese \u2013 spoke to So Foot about the decision to move to Tigres, and the regret that remains with him, as MilanPress<\/a> relays.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn September 2020, I was close to joining AC Milan. The negotiations with Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara had started very well, but I had already reached an agreement with Tigres. I made a mistake, and in the end, AC Milan remained just a suggestion.\u201d<\/p>\n

His record in Mexico was far from the levels he was at in France.
