Louisville<\/a> head coach Jeff Brohm<\/a> is facing a scary off-field situation at the moment. A man in Texas has been charged with terroristic threatening after making comments on Nov. 8 and 9 about the Cardinals\u2019 loss to Cal<\/a>. Brohm, along with his wife and kids, was on the receiving end. One count of attempted theft by extortion is there as well, which involved quarterback Miller Moss<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the news broke, Louisville athletic director Josh Heird released a statement on the matter. He spoke to the safety of everyone involved, saying everyone inside the program will be there to protect Brohm, his family, and Moss.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware of the recent indictment of an individual who issued threats directed at our head football coach, his wife and kids, members of his coaching staff and student-athletes,\u201d Heird said<\/a>. \u201cThe safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community remain our highest priority. We commend law enforcement for their swift and decisive action in addressing this matter. Threats of violence have no place in our community or in sports, and we will continue to work closely with authorities to ensure a safe environment for all.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur student-athletes and coaches deserve to compete, learn, and grow without fear. We are committed to supporting them and reinforcing the values of respect, integrity, and accountability that define our program. We ask our fans and community members to join us in fostering a culture of positivity and support, both on and off the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian Mandel is the name of the man being charged. There is a warrant out for his arrest in the state of Texas and has yet to be arrested. Since Mandel is not in police custody, no mugshot is currently available.<\/p>\n

On the field, Cali defeated Louisville at home on Saturday, 29-26 in overtime, after a touchdown on fourth down. The loss dropped the Cardinals to 7-2 on the season, snapping a three-game winning streak in the process. Not what Brohm wanted at this point in the season, hoping to continue winning ways.<\/p>\n

Louisville was ranked No. 15 in the first College Football Playoff<\/a> rankings, and a loss to 6-4 Cal at home isn\u2019t a great look for the Cardinals\u2019 playoff argument. They dropped to No. 19 in the latest AP poll, and it remains to be seen where the CFP committee slots them after the loss.<\/p>\n
