{"id":284506,"date":"2025-11-11T03:21:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T03:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/284506\/"},"modified":"2025-11-11T03:21:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T03:21:17","slug":"yankees-pick-insider-over-former-angels-coach-to-fill-spot-on-aaron-boones-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/284506\/","title":{"rendered":"Yankees pick insider over former Angels coach to fill spot on Aaron Boone\u2019s staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KWUSQOA5XVCWHM4LTX34W7XEKU\">LAS VEGAS \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/yankees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/yankees\/\">Yankees<\/a> have filled a coaching vacancy with an insider that most everyone in the organization raves about on the eve of this week\u2019s General Manager Meetings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SGWMT4YFG5GUXN2RBBSZA2PKDY\">Before GM Brian Cashman meets up with colleagues and agents to initiate trade talks and free agent signings at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the Yankees promoted Dan Fiorioto was promoted to manager Aaron Boone\u2019s new first base and infield coach after eight seasons in the minors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5KWUPKFEMNHBDPXZLJN76FIWSI\">The New York Post first reported the promotion for Fiorito, who was the Yankees\u2019 minor league outfield\/infield coordinator the last two seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PMUMSS567FCQHM52EBSCIOMYOQ\">Fiorito, 35, replaces Travis Chapman, whose contract wasn\u2019t renewed after four seasons as the Yankees\u2019 first base and infield coach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7CNYLNAVSBFA3JJLD7VPFI26SI\">Fiorito was picked over former Angels bench coach Ryan Goins, an MLB official told NJ Advance Media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UTKVN3GNPNE5HMGWBVLB3FGKM4\">Goins, 37, was a major-league infielder for eight seasons and coached for the Angels for the last two seasons, first as an infield coach and then an interim bench coach after manager Ron Washington left the team last June on a medical leave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DWKBT2SFJBFABHGKUVH5744ZKI\">Besides Chapman, two others from the Yankees\u2019 2025 staff won\u2019t be back next season \u2013 bullpen coach Mike Harkey and assistant hitting coach Pat Roessler. Jake Hirst has been promoted from minor-league hitting coordinator to replace Roessler and Desi Druschel rejoined the organization after one season with the Mets to be a pitching coach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NPYQQQJUJBHRFOG6UB4MPUPKH4\">Druschel may return to his 2022-24 Yankees role as assistant pitching coach with Preston Claiborne possibly switching from assistant pitching coach to bullpen coach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3QQISFYFC5F5DPW33KPC72IQQI\">Fiorito managed in the Yankees\u2019 organization for three seasons and in 2022 skippered the Double-A Somerset Patriots to the franchise\u2019s Eastern League Championship.
