{"id":284960,"date":"2025-11-11T08:50:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T08:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/284960\/"},"modified":"2025-11-11T08:50:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T08:50:14","slug":"purdue-hires-butler-benton-to-be-executive-director-of-player-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/284960\/","title":{"rendered":"Purdue hires Butler Benton to be executive director of player personnel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"block-251eb93f-a267-4656-9619-d3a0e2e52a0a\">Purdue has made a key addition to its front office staff with the hiring of UCLA GM <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/butler-benton-16242\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Butler Benton<\/a> to be executive director of player personnel, GoldandBlack.com has learned. <\/p>\n<p id=\"block-2784c1fa-1a71-43e5-b658-97f14577289d\">Benton has been general manager of recruiting and personnel the last two seasons in Westwood, joining the inaugural staff of then-UCLA coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/coach\/deshaun-foster-132917\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DeShaun Foster<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"block-79e2d668-a9ea-4756-b8c5-3ab4ba568fb2\">Prior to UCLA, Benton had stops at Notre Dame, Arkansas, Georgia Southern and Michigan State, among others.<\/p>\n<p id=\"block-2f3d3679-76a4-4426-92cf-9e5714e87a20\">A native of Detroit who played running back at Cincinnati (2004-07), Benton worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/coach\/barry-odom-133371\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barry Odom<\/a> at Arkansas from 2021-22, helping the Razorbacks go 16-10 and sign back-to-back top-30 classes before working at Notre Dame in 2023.<\/p>\n<p id=\"block-6ee86326-d2cc-4ae7-aed1-d5d8f0bd4dde\">Prior to Arkansas, Benton worked in the player personnel departments of Georgia Southern (2020) and Michigan State (2017-2020).
