JIMMY Kimmel has revealed his plans for the conclusion of his nighttime talk show after numerous sudden cancellations. <\/p>\n

The show was abruptly canceled at the last minute<\/a> on Thursday due to an unknown \u201cpersonal matter\u201d involving the host.<\/p>\n

Weeks earlier, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was halted by ABC<\/a> for days because of Jimmy<\/a>\u2018s ill-received remarks about Charlie Kirk\u2019s fatal shooting and after receiving pressure from the Trump administration and right-wing conservatives to do so. <\/p>\n

The incidents left viewers wondering what the future of the late-night talk show would look like, and how much longer Jimmy \u2013 a known liberal activist \u2013 would continue his over two-decade-long run as host.<\/p>\n

Jimmy addressed his hopes for how the show would end during a recent appearance on the We Can Do Hard Things<\/a>\u00a0podcast with his wife, Molly McNearney. <\/p>\n

He discussed the show\u2019s suspension in September and expressed his fear that he wouldn\u2019t get to go out \u201con my terms,\u201d as the possibility of a permanent cancellation loomed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I\u2019d not been allowed back on the air, I\u2019d be a martyr,\u201d Jimmy told hosts Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach, and Amanda Doyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a terrible position to be in as a comedian, [but] it\u2019s not the position I wanted to be in. And it\u2019s also not the way I wanted the show,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

Jimmy also shared that he and his wife, who is a co-head writer and executive producer of the show, talked about how they would close that chapter of their lives when the time came. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to end it in a graceful way. I want to have a farewell party with our staff. I want to do all those things,\u201d the TV personality said, adding that he wanted to \u201csay the things that I want to say to people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimmy also said that the thought of everything ending \u201cabruptly, and unjustly, would have been awful. It\u2019s just not how you want it to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Molly also weighed in on how they felt amid the abrupt pause in production and the uncertainty of whether the show would continue.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn interesting wave, I think we both felt was mourning, right after [the show was suspended]. Because we felt we weren\u2019t coming back and we didn\u2019t have a shot to write our ending the way we wanted to\u2026\u201d Molly confessed.<\/p>\n

She then recalled the \u201cstrange feeling\u201d they experienced on their last day in the studio before the hiatus. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we left here, we didn\u2019t know if we were going to see people again,\u201d Jimmy\u2019s wife revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t fired, we were suspended,\u201d Jimmy noted. \u201cAnd I think suspended means come back, but it just didn\u2019t feel like that to me at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
