Piers Morgan branded Novak Djokovic<\/a> a \u201cmonumental d***\u201d after the Serbian had lashed out at the Wimbledon<\/a> crowd last year. Djokovic sat down to discuss a host of issues with the broadcaster last week, with the interview due to land in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Djokovic, who moved to Greece with his family<\/a> earlier this year, is one of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport and has won a record 24 men\u2019s Grand Slam singles titles. At the weekend, he won the Hellenic Championship<\/a> in front of an adoring crowd. But he hasn\u2019t always had the full backing of fans watching on in stadiums.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Djokovic accused Wimbledon fans of using a Holger Rune chant as a ploy to boo him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know they were cheering for Rune but that’s an excuse to also boo,\u201d the veteran explained. \u201cI have been on the Tour for more than 20 years. I know all the tricks.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI played in much more hostile environments, trust me – you guys can’t touch me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Djokovic then ended an interview with the BBC<\/a> early after he was repeatedly asked about the crowd\u2019s behaviour towards him. And Morgan took to X<\/a> (formerly Twitter) at the time to give his opinion on the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cDjokovic is being a monumental d*** at Wimbledon this year, and I’m all here for it,\u201d he wrote. \u201cHe deserves way more respect than he gets, from fans & media, and he’s obviously bored with pretending he’s OK with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morgan then asked Djokovic to sit down for a chat with him as the 60-year-old added: \u201cLet’s do an interview, @DjokerNole – I won’t treat you like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Good Morning Britain host had previously slammed Djokovic after the blockbuster star had been deported from Melbourne ahead of the 2022 Australian Open<\/a> for violating Australia’s pandemic rules.<\/p>\n

\u201cCovid<\/a> rule cheat, immigration form liar, & anti-vaxxer icon Novak Djokovic<\/a> loses final appeal against deportation & will be thrown out of Australia without being able to compete in Aus Open. Good,\u201d Morgan wrote<\/a> on the same platform.<\/p>\n

Following his previous comments about Djokovic, Morgan has finally got his wish to chat to the 38-year-old.<\/p>\n
